Any idea as to why retroarch force closes anytime I try to load a game? I've tried two different games and it just force closes. I've tried removing and reinstalling retroarch and it's still a no go :(

Which games? If they are N64, then it is still in alpha and therefore does not work with everything yet.

Yeah it doesn't.

It won't let you choose the down/top/right/left arrows to put your pokemon into the battle. bummer.

From the screenshot it looks like you are using the SNES overlay, change it to the N64 overlay and you will be able to choose things. The SNES overlay, particularly the 'arrow pad', does not work with n64 games.

Thank you for your reply. However , how do I change it to n64 overlay. Will it be the n64 overlay when I also play game boy advance games with retro arch ?

Ah okay. I only tried perfect dark and yoshi's story.

Perfect dark as so epic! It's still fun but in my opinion the graphics haven't held up too nicely. Some games still look fine but for some reason perfect dark did not age well graphically.

Still one of my favorite games though. I was so sad when Rare left Nintendo for xbox. :(

I don't think perfect dark works yet, and no idea about yoshi's story :p

Not if you config it for the N64 core.

Frontend -> New config for core -> Select Nintendo 64 (Mupen64plus) -> Select Nintendo 64 (Mupen64plus) under Configurations -> Scroll down to 'Input' -> Select Input overlay -> Hit 'Up' (top left) until you get back to "/" -> Select Applications -> Select Retroarch.app -> Select Overlays -> Select 'n64' -> Select n64.cfg.

Then load an N64 game and it should load the N64 overlay (only when using the n64 core).

You may want/need to also add a GBA config and change the input overlay like above again to SNES or any other overlay you want to try, or just change the 'Global config' to whichever 'non n64 overlay' you want.

Why are you using the Super Nintendo controller to play a Nintendo 64 game? Could that be the problem?

EDIT: Never mind. Looks like you figured it out.

Yeah it doesn't.

Had the same problem. Turn on the show hidden files option in iFile, then delete the RetroArch.cfg file in /var/mobile/Documents/.RetroArch. Restart your iPhone or iPad, then try again.

Ffvii

Non jailbroken first of all. All other ROMS work on all emulators within retroarch perfectly including PS1 ROMS. But, FFVII refuses to boot. I got it to boot once and it was laggy as hell. But, has not been working since.

Bad ROM? Does it have to be .bin or .zip? I've only tried .bin.

Please advise.

I would kill for a great bluetooth N64 controller. Playing games that were meant to be played using a controller with physical buttons on a touch screen kills it for me. The N64 had so many buttons that I don't know of any iOS compatible controller that will give you the C buttons.

Im def in the same boat right now, but can't find one (you do get used to the touch screen after a while)
On a side note for everyone having problems getting Roms, you can use an apple store app called unlimdownloads. Then go to coolrom.com. Btw if you google retroarch someone has kinda made a tutorial if you all have additional questions.

Most bluetooth controllers now have two sticks, just bind the right stick or whichever one you don't want to use as the n64 one to the c buttons.

Probably the closest you can get :/
