IF you get it replaces, place that baby in a felt-lined box, take it to the bank, and place it in the lock box, and never take it out. That way you can resell that baby in 1-2 years for like-new condition.

First of all, I didn't scratch it, I let someone hold it and after I noticed small scratches on it. There is no reason for it to get scratched because someone held the phone!

So you're saying someone held your phone and in the process of holding it, scratched it? Did you let the sandman hold your phone? :p

On a serious note, phones don't just "scratch". They need something to scratch them. Keys, dirt, grit, sand, metal, etc. I think you should keep the phone and not get a replacement under warranty - it's not Apple's fault.

Can we return you for some defect in logic?

Even if you get a new one you would "scratch" it up.

And no, it's pretty difficult to scratch iPhone 4 in reality.

Perhaps figuring out what is scratching it will be a better use of your time, maybe you have diamonds in your pocket.

If you purchased your iphone in U.S but is in India, you will have to bring it back to the States for a replacement. If you are under 30 days return period, you do not have to use the genius, you can talk to one of the sales person and ask if you can exchange it for a brand new one. If you are past the 30 days return period, then you will have to use the genius for a replacement.

If you know a friend or relative who is going to U.S, give the phone to them, have them replace it and have them bring it back for you.

I have done this yesterday, I purchased an unlocked iphone last week, had a yellow tint, and a light bleeding on the top (C39 serial), I went in yesterday, showed the problem, asked if I could return it and get a new one. So they exchanged it and got a brand new one with no yellow tint and light bleeding (DNP). I did not use the genius for this reason. If I was over the 30 day return period then I would have no choice.

So if you loan your friend your car and they run into a fire hydrant should the manufacturer pay because you weren't the one using it? Your property, your responsibility.
