Advice to the OP. Stop reading Macrumors, you returned 3 perfectly good laptops that you were pleased with before you read these forums.

When the rev 2 machines come out you will not buy one because they didn't fix the "glaring quality issues" and "Apple does not listen to it's customers" and whatever whining crap the majority of the people out here complain about.

Your problem is not that your computer had the issues you described.

Your problem is that you read Macrumors, discover the "issues" that other people out here complain about, realize that your computer has them too and get upset.

I fell into the same boat as you, suffered from product dissatisfaction for awhile, then one day stopped reading Macrumors and learned to love my 2nd Gen MBP.

There are some wonderfully helpful posters here, and if you have a genuine problem, you may get lucky and they will actually help you. The vast majority are the ones who have a love/hate relationship with their consumer behavior and will never be satisfied. They are tainting the forums with their complaining and wikiwhining habits.

Next time you buy an apple product, stay off the forums and learn to be happy with your own perceptions not influenced by the dissatisfaction of others.

Seriously, you don't think this is an issue??? :

Had 2.0 with mediorcre C989 screen. Unacceptable.
Returned, upgraded to 2.4 MB. Took home, and discovered slanted keys. Unacceptable.
Returned 2.4, listened to profuse apologies from apple store reps, discovered just before I got out of store that they swapped my 2.4 with another 2.0. Unacceptable.
Swapped for 2.4. Checked to see if it was 2.4. Checked for slanted keys; none. Checked screen quality; still not great but mostly acceptable.

Little bridge holding hard drive in was overtighted and screw was warped. Can't really tighten down. Can feel hard drive vibrate during disk intensive operations. Trying to decide if acceptable or not.

Has Apple's quality control gone in the crapper lately, or what?

I honestly can't tell if you are joking or not.
Aelyrin is right; it is too easy to get caught up on insignificant flaws after hearing many people complain about them online. Sure, my middle-aged iBook has some issues, but I've come to accept them more as quirks than as real flaws, and I couldn't be happier about it.

Is this a joke? If you're serious, I sure hope you don't discover a discolored speck on the casing anywhere or something like that.

I am not sure what you are trying to demonstrate here or what it has to do with this thread.

If your screen quality is truly as bad as that image depicts, you can return it to apple and they will gladly replace your machine with a new one without asking questions.

I had a bad fan in mine, it was rubbing on something inside of the machine, making odd noises constantly. I walked into the Apple store with an appointment at 12:20 and walked out with a replacement machine at 12:30.

The new one works quite nicely.

If you have an issue, take it in for repair. The OP is upset about silly things that people get upset about on these forums, he was happy before he read the posts about "things to look for in your new Aluminum Macbook" or whatever other silly threads talk about these things.

If you have legitimate problems, get them fixed. For the rest of you returning MBs with slanted function keys, enjoy your miserable lives. It doesn't matter how good it is, you will never be happy.

it boils down to people who shelled out the funds they don't have in order to be 'down', then find bs reasons to return it.

who in their right mind really inspect a laptop like they work in the QA department. when I buy a laptop I give a once over, then I get down to business

You're right, we just rant about random stuff. It's okay for Apple to make a notebook and cut costs in QC causing MANY issues that would annoy many people - myself included, but according to you, it's not okay for us to talk about it.

some people don't want to settle; I don't understand why it is wrong to obsessive about spending your money.

Why do you take my advice to the OP as some sort of criticism of your behavior.

Go right ahead and talk all you want out here, it is a forum and a large portion of the audience is right on board with you.

The OP and people like him/her are often influenced by what they read out here, especially when they are nervous about the money they just handed over. I was in the same boat when I switched to Apple. I felt the same as the OP after discovering these forums.

I gave him advice based on my experience, which apparently offended you somehow.

Mine's perfect too!

I am starting to feel like the only person who got a perfect macbook and am happy with it.

I got mine out of the first batch recvd at my local Apple store. It's perfect! No dead pixels, no slanted keys, fit & finish perfect...and the screen is great. Granted the viewing angle side to side is not as good as the MBP, but big deal. I corrected the display profile by loading the spyder2 profile and it's great.

So, I must be the third person to get a perfect Macbook. Can't be that few of us. Maybe the happy users are really using their Macbooks instead of griping on public forums.

No, he's saying the posters here should stop returning or complaining about the Macbooks for ridiculous reasons that only bother them because they read about it on this forum. For example: the posts saying they have a 9c89 screen and want to return it because they read on MR that it's the "bad one", when they otherwise would be happy with it.

I love my new MB with the 9C89 screen and slanted keys. Who the hell cares in the end? I don't put it on display in an art gallery for everyone to look at and point out its flaws. It's a bloody laptop and it works perfectly. The screen is fine for me and I've had no problems with it.

I don't have any regrets paying $1500 for it. Now if I had paid $5000 and received this, THAT would be unacceptable. You get what you pay for...what a crazy idea.:eek::D

I think the people that are complaining about the screens are doing so because there are laptops with better screens than the macbook that cost less.

Having said that, I'm enjoying my new (and first) macbook a lot.

I'm a long time PC (Win + Linux) user.. and I got my macbook a few days back.

I must say the experience is AWESOME. The design is really cool and the laptop is pretty sleek

I have the 89 screen and so far its fine. I compared it to my dell xps m1330 and this screen is much better (after calibration).

I too have no dead pixels, nor any slanted keys or anything. The laptop is pretty perfect.

The best part of it all is that the laptop runs really cool. Even when I keep it on my bed and use it, it does not heat up.

Great laptop!

PS: I don't care much about mac os x. Ubuntu is the best for me (programmer). But the macbook hardware rocks.

third time's a charm.

1st one had crappy screen. Second had slanted keys. Third one is marvelous. (Using perfect color profile supplied by forums helped.) Even though the third one is the 'dreaded' 9C89, it is sufficient. Yeah, the viewing angle isn't great, but I think that's the glossy display, not the screen itself.

Watched Sweeney Todd on it, and it passed the Tim Burton LCD test. Can differentiate Steve's shirt from the background on the latest keynote video.

And okay, the light up screen on the 2.4 is pretty frakkin' cool.

I'm not a graphics artist. I do word processing, surf the internet, and occasionally play a game or two. The display is bright and crisp. Maybe it took one or two forays into the Apple store for the RDF to hit, but I am quite satisfied with it. And to be honest, for my needs, I don't think it will be worth a $569 hit in the shorts (plus tax) to upgrade to the MBP when the only thing that would suit me is a slightly bigger (and possibly, slightly better quality) screen.
