Nope, it is a real PITA to carry around. But at least it takes good pictures of the grandkids.
I haven't paid much attention to dedicated point and shoot cameras these days, but I'd reckon they're still very comparable to all but smartphones with the very best cameras?

I'm surprised you think it is a pain to carry. It fits easily into a shirt pocket and seems ideal for taking food pictures or people in gatherings and it has the plus of being able to upload pictures to Facebook instantly or check your mail from any local free Wifi. It sounds ideal for on travel when you won't have cellular service anyway. I think the iPad mini4 will have more to offer but it still is not as portable or pocketable. I may get both.

Comparable or better. I got a Sony CyberShot for about $170 last year and I've only used it a few times since I have my iPhone 6 Plus and Canon T3i. It's a great in-between device though.

The benefits are: Zoom, it's compact but has a 10x zoom (25-250mm in 35mm terms), 18MP CMOS sensor that goes up to ISO 3200, SteadyShot OIS, 60FPS 1080p video with OIS that is way better than my 6 Plus, battery lasts quite some time, SD card so you can swap on the go, and a much better flash when you need one.

Most of the time a dedicated camera is still going to be better than a mobile option because of the above. But in a pinch or for someone taking pictures of stuff up close in good lighting a smartphone or iPod touch will do the job.

I'm considering one, but I have no need for it since my music is all on my iPod classic and it's usually just plugged into my head unit in my truck anyway. Plus I have the iPhone.

The iPod touch was a great device back before I had a smartphone though (2nd/3rd/4th gen for me), and even though I got my first Driod in 2010 my 64GB iPod was still used more until Android apps caught up with iOS and SD card costs came down.

I still want a Product Red one though ever since my product red iPod nano 2G got stolen. It had a whole 4GB of space. Haha. But it was beautiful.

To be fair, you can't judge the battery life on a device after just a couple of days. The battery life was horrendous the first charge cycle or two on my new iPod touch also, but is fine now and I've only owned it for 8 days. Obviously when something is brand new, you're installing a lot of apps and data, it's indexing files, you're using it a whole lot more than normal, etc. The same thing has always happened to me when buying a new iPhone or iPad too, not to mention the first few days after major iOS updates as well. I always give it a minimum of a full week at least before I make any judgment on battery life.

I agree with you on this one. It seems that the battery gets better the more you charge/discharge it in the first few days. I've noticed that with my new iPad Air 2.

That's been true so far with my second one. I returned my first one after a week because the battery life was horrible.

I'm going to have to put mine through extensive battery testing today. I've not used it heavily so it's been difficult to gage the battery life. However I've hair used it to play about 30 mins of angry birds 2 and the battery life dropped by 50 %. I still have a week left before I can return or exchange it. I'm going to really put it through its paces today. I'm not too fussed about gaming because I don't do it often and my iPod touch would probably be my least preferred device. It needs to perform decently with web browsing, messaging and social media.

I've mainly been using it for music playback and of course it does fine with that.

I bought one. Kept it.

1. Form factor is great.
2. Very quick compared to iPhone 4S and iPod 5th (although no where near as buttery smooth as my (now sold) Nexus 4 with 5.1)
3. Camera is excellent. Better than the 4S/iPod and slow mo, burst is flawless
4. Battery life is very good
5. M8 counts steps! I have Nike Fuel and Fitbit (although not supported just yet)
6. Screen is excellent. Much better than an iPhone 4S and looks identical to a 5/5S
7. Drives decent headphones no problem!
8. Wireless A/C

:)

Oh and I bought a glass screen protector! :) £1.49 from eBay

The battery life sucks, camera is moderately good, too light for my taste, and screen isn't as good as iPhone 5/5C/5S. It's great for an iOS introduction, and the processor is speedy. The cons outweighed the pros. For those interested in the product, take heed on what you really want from it.

I like mine a lot. I just sold my Ipad mini to help pay for this little speedy beauty which fits in my pants pocket to take with me everywhere. Absolutely no regrets here.

My battery is seasoned real nice. I use mine daily and I run it for several hours listening to music, not to mention the occasionally email, Facebook and other things. So far I am totally pleased! To light to this to that! I mean really! GEEZ!

how many hours are people getting now, after a little over a week i am only getting close to 5 hours. Might be time to trade it in for another

I have a 64 GB 5th gen (Nov 2012) and just can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger on the 6th. I know I'd appreciate the additional speed and 512 MB RAM, and the 128 GB model is tempting. However, I really wanted Touch ID, GPS, and a larger screen. Being able to use Apple Pay and not being locked out of the watch would be nice extras. That said, I'm balking even more at paying twice as much ($849) for an iPhone, whose cellular capabilities I cannot foresee needing. I guess I'll wait a few months and see if the iPhone 6 goes on sale.

Larger screen is something I wanted to. I have a 5th generation iPod touch and it's slow, but I won't pay just for the extra CPU, I don't use it that much. If it came with a 5.5" screen like the iPhone 6 Plus on the other hand I could easily see me paying for it.

No regrets of my purchase, awesome camera for pics&vids (my reason to buy)
ZERO problems with my iPod touch 6th gen. here.

JoeShades: Did you exchange it?

I bought one for my son yesterday and the battery is already below the half after some settings, two uploading and some Internet. It doesn't seem to last as long as our new Ipad mini 2. Maybe it's normal after only one charge... I hope it will be ok.
