I was just in one of my local Apple Stores to try on the SS watch that I have on order...excited to get it!

While I was waiting, an older gentleman was in the process of taking FOUR...yes, FOUR...unopened Apple Watch boxes out of his bag to return. The shipment boxes hadn't even been opened. I heard the reps talking...it was three SS silver links and one SS black link. WOW! How was he able to get that many?

I joked with the rep...can you turn around and sell any of those...they laughed and went along with the return.

Weird to say the least.

On the plus side, if they're unopened Apple can still sell them as new - so that will help at least 4 people that are waiting for their watches!

Not to get too far off topic, I returned a sealed 38mm SS Milanese last week in SoCal. Didn't want to eBay it and hadn't found this forum yet. In any case, I was told I was the first at that store to return a watch. They didn't even know the procedure for handling the return and storing it in the back. As for reselling, all internet orders are shipped back to somewhere and not available to be sold in the Apple store even if it is sealed and in pristine condition.

Waiting on x:03 and x:04 movement, tick tock tick tock...

Unless things have changed recently Apple opens all returns for inspection regardless if they are unopened or not. Too much fraud these days for them to trust a sealed box. My understanding is all returns are then processed as warranty replacements. I may be wrong but I have returned plenty of unopened items and they always opened them to inspect prior to refunding me.

I've read this as well. Apple isn't like most stores where they mark the returns as saleable and they get returned to the shelf.

Maybe you could've bought it directly off the guy before he processed the return

Interesting. I was not aware of this. Makes total sense though. My return was processed on the spot without opening. Maybe they broke protocol in my case.

Were you tempted to try to buy one directly from him?

I was tempted...for sure! Probably could've gotten one for face value, too! Would've been a bit weird to interject myself into that conversation, though.

So is there no money to be made on eBay?

Sure there is! But it looked like this older gentleman would've had no idea how to use eBay... #

there's little reason to risk the ebay route. It's already been out for week so the margin you would get is minimal + factor the 10%+ amount that ebay takes

Maybe UPS delivered it to him by accident. I mean there have been some stories… Just a good, and honest citizen.

I bought a 42mm SG BSB off CL two days ago for 500 bucks. Just to see what happened I threw it on ebay for a grand last night. It was bought this morning......I never thought it would sell and honestly I'm a little disappointed because now I have to wait again but I couldn't pass up 500 in profit.

And yet he was the only person in the world to have received their stainless steel black link so far?

Edit: I see from the threads that some people are now receiving their black SS link watches! Good for them!

Several users here have them and have posted pics. It is odd that an older gentleman who may or may not so computer savvy got a hold of that and 3 SS Links too.

Interesting. Was your buyer overseas?
