I bought a 42mm SG BSB off CL two days ago for 500 bucks. Just to see what happened I threw it on ebay for a grand last night. It was bought this morning......I never thought it would sell and honestly I'm a little disappointed because now I have to wait again but I couldn't pass up 500 in profit.

That's what I did...put it up on Craigs and I now have a SS Leather Loop on order for no extra cash. (But it does kinda suck to have to wait til July now...it will be okay.) #

Where in Michigan? Sounds like Royal Oak LMAO :D

Haha! It was Troy Sommerset.

There is plenty of money to be made, but some people don't have the patience or time to deal with it I guess...

Bingo. 38 Milanese was only going for $100-200 over retail. After shipping and my time, I decided it was easier to return it.

I was tempted...for sure! Probably could've gotten one for face value, too! Would've been a bit weird to interject myself into that conversation, though.

Sure there is! But it looked like this older gentleman would've had no idea how to use eBay... #

Ageism.

that's nice though you missed the part about what ebay takes + shipping + any ebay risk etc.
Enjoy your 400+ if you dont lose it from a false user claim :p

No.....they are taking a nice 130 from it. I forgot to mention that a week ago I bought a 42 sport wsb off cl for 525 and realized I hated the white band. It just looked silly on me so I threw it on CL for 725 to see what would happen and sold it in 10 minutes. So I am actually up 600. I see that as a free watch, apple care, and a nice leather loop band for the new SG once it arrives.

Unless things have changed recently Apple opens all returns for inspection regardless if they are unopened or not. Too much fraud these days for them to trust a sealed box. My understanding is all returns are then processed as warranty replacements. I may be wrong but I have returned plenty of unopened items and they always opened them to inspect prior to refunding me.

Well, yes and no. If they're able to verify that it appears the shrink-wrap was original (all the internal components are still in the same order of packaging, etc, then they could sell it as new, as it really isn't an open box item.

Once the packaging has been opened by a customer, however, it could only be used for warranty replacement (provided it passes verification testing).

It's certainly Apple's discretion to do so, but I'd think they would want to get full margin on new items that are returned.

I was just in one of my local Apple Stores to try on the SS watch that I have on order...excited to get it!

While I was waiting, an older gentleman was in the process of taking FOUR...yes, FOUR...unopened Apple Watch boxes out of his bag to return. The shipment boxes hadn't even been opened. I heard the reps talking...it was three SS silver links and one SS black link. WOW! How was he able to get that many?

I joked with the rep...can you turn around and sell any of those...they laughed and went along with the return.

Weird to say the least.
Wow! What an exciting story! Are you a writer!

I used to have that opinion, but it is so easy to sell items without leaving your house, assuming you still have the apple shipping box. Example:

38mm SS Milanese + $200 premium: $849

- 10% EBay seller fee ($84.90)
- 4% PayPal fee ($33.96)
- shipping, including UPS pick up (~$20.00)

Profit: $61.14

Not bad for 20 minutes of work, but I think you could charge a higher premium and make more profit.

As long as a seller protects him/herself by only using PayPal, only shipping to PayPal verified address, getting tracking # and requiring signature upon delivery, eBay is mostly risk free.

Maybe he was returning them for his son or daughter (grandson, granddaughter, whoever) whose family all wanted a watch and he offered to buy them as gifts for the family if they'd order them.

Maybe the family got tired of waiting for those link watches and picked up some SS BCB watches or whatever.

Who knows?

It's not like old people don't shop.

One of those could've been for him, for that matter. Maybe he decided he liked the Milanese?

Agree, not bad lewisd25. But with everything going on in my life right now (work, parent's, kids, wife, house, etc), I just made the call that I had other priorities. I feel like such a turd when I talk about it - total first world problems.

I wasn't saying anything about his age...more that he had received FOUR watches...I thought Apple had put a limit of 2 per person.

To easy to assume on here...and we all know what that does...

*sigh* I miss Michigan.

I ordered 4 watches on launch night. One per order though. I received two, returned one and am waiting on two more.

Very true.

One of my friends received a sealed box from Apple. Called them to say he also wanted the watch and they immediately sent one. Now that's great service.

I have received 4 watches and I have a 5th coming.

There are many threads on here about people receiving more than 2 watches.

I think the thing that happened was that during preorder, some people got dinged for more than 2 watches to one address and/or Apple ID number and this got their watch orders canceled.

Nobody knows whether this fellow had all those shipped to one address, or to the address of himself and some family members.

Yeah. All of mine were one per order because I did it on the app and that's how it makes you order.
