This is going to be longest 2 to 3 weeks with this dumb phone. :( It sucks that I can't check my e-mail on the go.

----------

For those waiting of ICS you might have to wait longer then expected

Reason why I hate Samsung and if is true I'm not buying another Samsung android device, I thought they learn from the galaxy s one but I guess no

That's "officially" get it. There will be custom roms way before then, if you want ICS on their GS2.

That always happened but most of the times buggy Roms, even cm7 had bugs for me and that's probably one of the more recognized developers

My SG2's battery lasts all day. With Bluetooth and WiFi always on.

Mine does as well, easily. Now the screens not on all day but when would it ever be? I am sure there will be tests comparing the GS2 to the iPhone batteries and I just cant imagine that the iPhone will do any better.

i acutally used my iphone 4 today after two weeks of galaxy use and guess what the iphone 4 battrey dies/drains about the same as the old iphone and i can just imagine how the 4s would do.

though, the battrey for iphone 4 charges quicker than the sgII.

I tried the S2 for 2 weeks before returning it. Really great phone but few minor issues made me switch back.

Trying to find a working headset was a pain, I had to pickup a bluetooth one just to get the remote control to work and then sometimes I press play and two different media apps would play at the same time. Certain apps including text messaging would constant force close until I clear the ram or reboot the phone. unable to turn off the camera shutter sound (without root) and if im playing music and take a picture the music would stop, tried out different camera apps but a lot of them lacked features from the basic one not to mention I was so useto tap to auto explosure instead of manual.

I wanted to try something different but after having those things I decided to just go back to what works. S2 battery was about the same as the 4s for me.

You sure on that shutter sound? Which carrier do you have? You can do it in the menu

How's that? :p
Ugly.

Your background is low-res and elements aren't centered on either axis.

The time and date aren't properly aligned (The time should be more on the left and PM should be lower) and the big text doesn't have the same drop shadow as the small one. The AT&T should have the same margin from the side as the date/time and also the same text color as the rest.

Icons on top have uneven spacing and dimensions (heck, that pixelated android icon is even larger than the menubar) and look like they have been designed by some 14 year old learning photoshop. The color and typography choices are ugly.

Google should hire some real designers, there are a lot of really talented ones out there, and money isn't the problem for them. Even if they don't hire the best ones, they could do something that is at least acceptable for people with high design standards such as people accustomed to Apple software.

I'm not a professional designer but I could come up with a UI that is much better-looking than that in a single day. I don't know Android much so I can't tell was is stock UI and what is modified but either way Apple's closed system wouldn't have allowed that kind of garbage and it's a good thing IMO.

Reminds me of this blog.

it was on Sprint, and yea im sure, nothing worked to turn the sound off not even putting the phone on vibrate, there are a few threads on it on the xda forums, there were a few work arounds but invlved rooting or deleting command lines.

Yea that was pretty stupid of them. It's in the menu on my ATT S2. Wonder why a difference on such a small thing.

Pretty sure there will be extended batteries for the SII, obviously with apple you get what you get.

samsung have already released an official extended battery that gets you 2000mAh over the original 1650.

i have no problems with the original battery though. i easily get 2 days with wifi on and all accounts pushing.

You barely even use the phone what's the screen on time ? On 3G?

Well having had a 3G and 4 I decided that I would try something new, after all how could I be a tech enthusiast and not try the biggest iOS rival. So I did a load of research and got a S2.

The actual hardware is gorgeous and despite what people say 4.3" is a very nice size, it was comfy to hold. But after two days and numerous problems with trying to download paid apps, getting a message quite often saying that there was no net connection when there was and gmail arriving on my iPhone before the S2 I factory rest the device packed it up and returned it.

I am now the owner of a 4s.

Super AMOLED+ rocks it is beautiful, but the low res of S2 really lets it down and the aspect ration makes reading forums like this in the browser difficult. When I went back to my IP4 the higher resolution screen was immediately apparent.

There is a lot to like about android I like that there are a lot more options, the contacts and music app really showed how iOS could spruce up their native apps. Also the fact that I am now embeded in the iTunes ecosystem makes it hard to move. With no one sync app to control everything really makes Android rather messy.

I agree that Android is on to something with their music and contact app. One neat feature about the address book I like is that you can slide a contacts name to right to call or left to message.

Not sure if you know but you can use the program Doubletwist to sync your media to Android devices.

A huge thing for me with this upcoming Galaxy Nexus and it's 1280x720 res.

Every single App created up until this point will be stretched out / scaled to fit.

Games with pixel perfect HD resolution? Nope... it's going to be like upscaling DVD's on a HDTV. At least that's what I am expecting.

I bought, and returned the 4S. The battery life issue just ruined an otherwise spectacular phone so for now, I am back to my 3G. Oh the agony... :p

Anyways I did pickup and play with a GS2 in a AT&T store and the phone was very nice, felt snappy, and that screen was definitely very impressive.

I am waiting for Apple to figure out the battery issues, and hoping that they get those squared away... and in the meantime I will wait for the Galaxy Nexus and ICS to drop and see what the world has to say about that.

If the 4S battery life isn't drastically improved I will give Android a try...

Just erase the battery memory stats and instal android 2.3.5. the best os now!

I also have some problems with the battery, but when i installed 2.3.5 any complaint.

you just have to download firmware, odin1.85, and thats all.

If you are interesting to know how to erase delvik and baterry stats and installed the new os, let me know. I will add some links and help you.
Also if you want to unlocked it is pretty easy.

Galaxy s2 best phone, and i am not trolling. Just recognized.

I returned my 4S because of the battery issue... which may be resolved sooner than later.

However the SG2 is on sale at BB for 149- and I might give it a try first... worst case I just go get another 4S.
