I prefer the SS models, so I have been back and forth this time. Go for SB SS? Nahh... it's pretty, but not me. Go for the Hermes? I'm too tempted with that one to see what they'll do next time when the Watch gets a redesign. Go ceramic? Hmm... not for me. Pretty, but not for me.

So, it's either go SS again (same watch as last time at 42MM... band matters not because my AW band collection is huge), or go sport to enjoy some of the new features for the lower price and wait for AW3 to potentially go for a new look.

So, I did get a RG AW2 with Midnight blue SB (42MM, for I have so many bands I could pair with it already). Seems like a good compromise, but I may cave, return this, and either skip this gen or buy a SS. Who knows?

I do love the GPS and increased processing power, so this RG model is looking like my fun watch for the next year or more.

Well, the price has always been high. I think the leading feature for me is the fact it has a second mic to improve on dictation and using Siri.

With Series 0, I often had to repeat myself or it doesn't register at all with the mic. One thing that I was under the impression on was GPS could be used for Maps with Series 2... meaning getting a much quicker view in location. I know on my iPad that has GPS... it gives a quicker view to my location. Maybe it's more to do with processing power than the GPS.

The sound quality is superb. No doubt.

The high price, coupled with the meager new feature list really give me pause in upgrading to the newer model.

GPS, and the brighter screen are probably the two features that would tempt me. While, I'm an avid runner, my routes are static enough that I really don't need a GPS while I run. While it sounds like I'm justifying the series 0, its more of a realization that I was able to enjoy running long before the existence of smart watches.

The nerd inside of me, of course wants the latest tech toys, but I can't see myself spending 369 for something that doesn't offer me that much new features.

Unless you swim or run I really don't think a watch should be a upgradeable gadget the same way a phone is... heck some of my automatics are very old (1965 for one) - and even though it isn't the same, first gen is still a solid and nice watch.

Agreed, but one major knock I had on the AW, was the lack of GPS, and I made frequent remarks saying Apple wouldn't/couldn't put the GPS in because of the battery. I was proved wrong, but also I've come to the realization for my running (which is just for pure enjoyment), I don't really need the GPS. I'm not justifying the lack of GPS in the series 0, but rather just seeing how I've lived with it out a GPS for years and I've enjoyed running.

Perhaps if the price was a little cheaper, or I had a bit more incentives, maybe I would take the plunge. I am liking the Nike version of the AW, that's the wildcard :)

I'm with most of the people here. Not to much worth upgrading my ss two the second gen. If I went with alum I might have. I'll wait for gen 3 on Black Friday.

Well I think S0 is a great watch. I'm very very happy with my upgrade though - the new model is everything I wished for in an upgrade with the GPS and speed primarily

I would get the series 1 but the water resistance makes life easier, if i want to swim in the pool or go surfing, I don't need to think about taking it off, or the shower for that matter. I don't have a Apple Watch yet but makes sense for me to get series 2 right?

Also have to point out that the price increase on iPads is ridiculous- £50 extra for the base pro 9.7 model compared to two weeks ago. There is absolutely no chance it suddenly started costing apple £50 more to produce - it's not made of gold!

The problem isn't that the iPad now costs an extra £50 to produce. The problem is that the British pound has taken such a nose dive over the past couple of months that in order to keep their margins they've had to re-calibrate the price, much like they've done in other countries where currencies have fallen against the USD.

If you want to swim and shower with it, it definitely is worth the extra $100 to get the Series 2.

Not with its super slow processor its not, i just got the SS series 2 which im upgrading from gen 0 and its a much welcome improvement, sure its a bit expensive to get the series 2 Stainless steel but it sure is worth it

I swim with my S0 all the time, as well. No issues after a year.
I agree and have also never had an issue while swimming over 50 times and showering maybe 100 times. However, anyone who wants to get the newer model for the higher waterproof rating is doing the right thing. We have gotten away with using the product outside its rating without an issue. Peace of mind is a very good thing.

Of course, I have series 0 and I just ordered a Series 2 Hermes because I love the new features and Hermes. :)

GPS wasn't my biggest concern even thought I only run without my watch. I just didn't care about my splits or distance as I am not a serious runner. The better battery is huge for me as I wear mine for sleep tracking and silent alarm. I am a fitness guy mostly on weightlifting and HIIT and then jogging for cardio. The brighter screen is another huge benefit to me. Higher rating waterproof is also huge. Faster is one more plus.

Of course S2 is a fantastic update but even with the slower processor WatchOS 3 speeds S0 up and it's still a nice watch

I may be in the minority, but upgrading from Series 0 to Series 2 feels completely worth it to me. The extra screen brightness for outdoors viewing is terrific, and the increased speed is noticeable...even compared to a Series 0 with watchOS 3. I took a hit selling my old watches – I went from a SS to a Sport (both Series 0) back up to a SS SB (Series 2). But for something I hope to use on a daily basis, the upgrade cost amortized over it's useful life won't break the bank.

There are excellent deals on SS Gen 0. But with the slower processor I don't know how long it will be supported.

Wonder if they will do a redesign for Series 3

I had the original watch and sold it and bought the series 2. The gps was one reason as I do run outside. One big thing for me is the waterproof to 50m. I do swim with it and not laps but with my kids just having fun. It's nice not having to worry about getting it wet for an extended period of time. It also runs much faster and it is brighter and easier for me to read.

The original watch is a good watch and for most people it will do exactly what they need it to do.
