reviving a slightly stale thread...
I installed snow leopard onto my early 2008 MBP that had a copy of leopard on it w/ a moderate amount of hacking done to certain parts of the OS and for the most part it works great, however I have noticed that alot of things are laggy now, and safari crashes alot.
Sometimes when Safari is open with just a single window on a blank page, it will suddenly start eating up >70% of my cpu power for some strange reason.
All of my office 2008 products will periodically give me the spinning beach ball and sometimes crash when I'm trying to save (which has caused me to lose several hours worth of work).
Sometimes when i'm just typing simple text into BBEDIT, I will get the beach ball and be unable to interact with it for up to 2 minutes which is really irritating.
Spotlight also is much slower now, and sometimes it won't even find a document that I *KNOW* is there and instead I have to browse to it through finder
I'm always the type of person who will opt for a fresh OS install rather than an upgrade, especially over a modified version, however I have an incredibly important work project due in 3 weeks and I can't afford the down time of having to reinstall everything I need right away. I was going to wait to install snow leopard until after the project, however my geek OCD got the better of me, and given the fact that apple has been so reassuring that upgrading will be flawless trouble-free, my excitement for the now OS forced me to upgrade over my better judgement.
Bottom line, I should have waited and installed Snow Leopard onto a FRESHLY formatted hard drive, and NOT UPGRADED!
