Listen folks - I own a "so-called" Generation 1 iPad. Yes, I LOVE it!! It prints, it does e-mail, it does web, it does netflix, it does hulu+ better than ANY other device on the market! My wife uses it exclusively as a laptop replacement.

Guess what? Apple is releasing a new version next April! For all you haters, this sucks, but let me tell you what I am going to do:

I AM GOING TO BUY ANOTHER ONE NEXT YEAR!! I AM AN APPLE FAN!!!

They are extraordinary devices!

On the other side of the fence, all you so-called "Apple Geniuses" who think you know better by waiting for the next iPad and somehow yours will be "Superior" - who cares about you! Live in your own world, where you are always the smartest person for waiting to enjoy something as good as the iPad! Your comments are very childish and small.

My final point - if you own an iPad now or plan to get one next year:

GOOD FOR YOU! It is the best tablet for the money and will continue to be.

Thank you for your time.

P.S. I have visited this forum for a long time to get Apple news and just barely created an account today to say this, because of all your bickering! Stop it!

We all love Apple or we wouldn't be here! :apple:

You are right. As long as the iPad is useful to you, you have nothing to regret that the next generation of iPad is better.

This kind of improvement has been going on in the PC world for decades. Yes, decades.

Is everyone forgetting that apple also caters to the enterprise world?

a rear camera could have many uses for companies, it could be used as a scanner for example  is not just about us people! :p

I can't wait to kick some photography old-school...with my iPad 2.

a lot of wining right now, but i'm sure that with time a lot of those whiners will be doing this:

I have plenty of imagination.. I said "I" I didn't say I was speaking for all the die hard fanboys that would buy anything with an apple logo etched into it..

I'm just tired of hearing about devices incorporating "cameras" as NEWS.. if it has a camera so what, if it doesn't have a camera so what.. seriously how many cameras can you have.. one on my computer, one on my laptop 2 on my phone, 1 on my iPod.. I think I have enough cameras...

Wow. Troll much?

Look, anyone who's ever used a view camera (yeah, I know I'm probably the only one here who has) knows how awesome using the massive frosted glass finder is. I'd love to be able to use an iPad like that. Sure, the pictures it takes probably won't be fantastic, but it'll still be a fun experience regardless of what people who think cameras on devices are a waste of time think. Besides, between FaceTime and augmented reality applications, the efficacy of a rear facing camera on iPad should be dead obvious. Being or not being an Apple fanboi has exactly nothing to do with that assessment.

Built-In Microphone...maybe?

If the iPad ends up having FaceTime then don't you think it would have a built-in mic. I know it says it has a mic under the Input/Output column in the Tech Specs page but so does the iPod Touch. I don't have either one but doesn't the mic for the IPT come from the headphones? The iPad doesn't come with headphones according to "In the Box". It would suck to have put on a set of earbuds every time just to do a FaceTime chat. So what is it? Is there already a built-in mic on the iPad or what does it mean exactly?

I can imagine some very cool apps that could use both cameras simultaneously. How about FaceTime with a divided screen allowing you to see the face of the person (in a reasonable size) who you are showing something:

Mr. "Hi Honey - what do you think of this house here in Costa Rica?"

Mrs. "Oh Dear - it's beautiful, I love it!"

(sweeping pan)

Mr. "And and here's the view from the back deck! You'll be able to look out the glass door and see the ocean!"

Mrs. "Oh Darling - it's so beautiful, let's buy it right away!"

(screen kisses)

Give me two cameras and a USB connector and I'm buying!

The only thing wrong with your example is that the husband is purchasing a home without the wife being present. Its probably more like this:

Mrs: "Honey, can you stop watching the football game and take a look at this house?"

[sweeping pan]

Mr: "OK fine, it looks great I love it. Is this the one you want?"

Mrs: "Yes this one is perfect."

Mr: "Sounds good, let's buy it and be done with our house shopping. Can I go back to the game now?"

Mrs: "Yes dear."

Of course the iPad will have a rear facing camera, FaceTime let's you switch between the front and rear facing camera, since the iPad will be getting FaceTime, it'll have both (they certainly won't exclude some functionality of FaceTime). Plus, the rear camera opens the iPad up to all sorts of augmented reality apps, which would be awesome on the iPad.

Oh please, now Apple's possibly giving us a rear camera as a feature and people are bitching and moaning about it? You've got a choice to use it, nobody's forcing you to.

Sounds like a bunch of children whining on Christmas morning, that Santa didn't bring them exactly what they want. You won't see me whining cause they haven't put a G5 processor in it yet. :D

Lol someone explain to me this odd behavior from the forum hating on innovation?!

It's maddening!

From hanging around Apple forums for quite a while now, I've noticed two things that repeat themselves from Strong Apple Loyalists.

1: If Apple does not have a feature then that is correct and that is a stupid feature anyway.

2: If Apple have something advanced that does not work with 90% of what people own now, than that is correct, Apple are looking towards the future and the fault is yours for owning other incorrect equipment.

Those two things seem to repeat and repeat.

Fingerpring recognition?

When the ipad first came out, there was a leak from a fellow who had a "prototype" that had two cameras and a fingerprint recognition sensor. Did he have the ipad 2 in hand?

Will the ipad 2 have the fingerprint feature?

Besides...

Besides the list of hardware features that people seem to want (i.e. Camera(s), USB or SD Card, Better display, GPS, 4G, etc...) what do you think would be the "Killer Feature" for the iPad? Remember, hardware is one thing, but where Apple makes their products soar is what's inside the software.

Anyone have any thoughts? I know I have some idea's but yours?

I would buy one!

I could not justify getting first gen iPad. It was obviously missing a key features for a reason. If Apple will get iPad 2 on the right features level, I will buy one at once.:)

Best of all the new iPad will be a phone...

...with full FaceTime capability! Think about it.

I still can't imagine taking pictures of anything with an iPad. Hopefully there's some other type of feature than will benefit from the rear camera.

pretty useful if you're doing something where you need to take a picture or video of something out in the field or at a supplier, draw on it to describe what is going on or needs to be changed, and e-mail it back to the office so it can be fixed immediately or commented on by someone who might know more. right now this is difficult with the iphone.

if this is true, and there's software that can do this, then my office is going to buy a couple of these.

They are doing it for two reasons. One because facetime allows rear camera use to show people what you are looking at and its a good function and two because they know a camera probobly costs next to nothing and people will bitch if it only has a front camera even though the majority of people will never use either of them.

99.9% of the time Apple doesn't care what people want because most people are stupid. They don't add features to products to "avoid bitching".

Cool idea- iPad 3D! Then they'll eventually have at least 4 cameras on it so you can do 3D FaceTime.

How about bluetooth video support for EyePhones with flip up screen/lenses and adjustable opacity so your Augmented Reality app is always available even when your iPad/iPhone/iPod is in your bag/pocket? You could strap the device to your chest so it can see things in front of you.

How about biometrics so the screen can read your palm printer fir the camera read your iris? How about a lot more processing power so you can run more intensive apps or more simulataeous apps, or better multitasking with easier transitioning to/from running apps?

How about microwave element so you can heat up your lunch while you're remote working on a park bench? How about a folding and/or expandable iPad screen? How about the ability to link multiple iPad screens for group experiences? How about adding virtual machine capabilities so you can gang multiple iPads to share processing? What about the ability for your iPad to become a 2nd screen fir your iMac?

BTW- why doesn't someone encode videos with "Magic Eye" format so you can watch 3D movies without glasses? (All you have to do is be willing to go cross-eyed!)

I would like an iPad made of malleable material which I could sculpt around my body or head so I could wear it, especially if EyePhone support was available.

Perhaps a brainwave sensor would be good, so the iPad could tell an app if I was grooving along in an alpha state or so bored I was in a delta state.

What about onboard identity/privacy facilities so I could have personalized recommendations without exposing myself to commercial entities?

I'm not interested in one or more camera's either.

Yet that said, it never ceases to amaze me how many want camera's everywhere. Why doesn't Apple mount four of them, front, rear, left & right sides.

Then users won't miss a thing and the smart ass can say "you're holding it wrong" when users complain of blocked shots.

They can also brag that it's got the most camera's... Heh!

How is it about choice. If rumors are true, if I buy Ipad 2 I will have NO choice. It comes with two cameras and that's it. I will have to PAY for the cameras, whether I use them or not.

Yes but if those cameras come on no additional cost over what you paid for the gen 1 camera less version, what is the big deal
