It's right there, called OpenStreetMaps that is 100x better source of local information than Apple Maps, especially in countries outside Apple's top markets. Is Apple too proud to use it? After moving out from UK where AM were OK to a Central European country, I've never used AM to find stuff, just for navigation on major roads. The amount of data missing from Apple Maps here is staggering and quite frankly embarrassing.

I think this is what Waze maps were/are based on?

I live in Munich, Germany. I'd love to have cycling added to Apple Maps here but given that Apple STILL doesn't know about the public transport system, I won't be holding my breath! I hate having to use Google but I have no choice. It's so far beyond time that Apple got more resources into the maps team. Munich is a major city, for goodness' sake!

Very exciting for those of us in the U.K.

Maybe we could have a coronavirus hotspot overlay? 😷

Saw the update the other day appear on my phone and looked much nicer.

However at some point today I’ve gone back to the previous version.

Nope — I guess, this is the reason why Apple will never use open source maps...
I used to be one of the national editors for Waze, we used OSM for the base maps, they were very broken as nodes for junctions did not exist (vector art was there but segments never joined so couldn't b used for navigation). We also had tools to overlay current OSM onto the editor so map contours and street names could be copied straight over. We could also overlay imagery from Bing maps.

Has anybody noticed any updated maps anywhere in Canada? The rollout of new maps was announced for iOS 14 and as of now, at least Toronto looks the same.
