Tested today - Maps did not show the reduced limit during school zone hours. When the speed limits come up do they take into account school zones and times? Couldn’t find this anywhere.

You must not be a privacy conscious person. A privacy conscious person, would try to take steps to have a photo of their residence removed from mapping services instead of gloating about which service has the best photo of their home. Google is in the business of making money off YOUR data. In this instance, it's in their best interest to have a clear photo of your home as at the end of the day, it makes money for them. If I had to choose between the "old crap" photo from Apple or the clear 3d photo from Google, I would choose Apple.Still same old crap resolution for my house. Certainly a later photo (within the last 2 years - wow!)- no zooming in close from above (edit: but I do have 3d view at last).
Google has a -much- older photo, but at least I can zoom all the way in and not have my house obscured by a huge blue circle.
Edit: Well that didn't last long. 3D view has gone. Seriously Apple, hire someone who knows how to run some servers.
I was referring the the author of this post…With 25 million and counting people in this country, there are bound to be at a least 2 people who only discovered iOS15 features today......
Lot of Emptiness…here in Northern Virginia…in Satellite View, neighbor‘s house (corner lot) is seen. But in “Explore“ it’s not there.Yes it works. On iPad press the '2D' or '3D' button in satalite view (you might need to push it twice to go to 2D and back to 3D). Then you can zoom in and rotate around the buildings. I tested it in Melbourne and Adelaide and am quite impressed, though some buildings appear under construction when they were finished a year ago (108 tower).
Brisbane river finally updated to its true Brown Snake looksNew map has been available since this morning on iOS 15.0 for me. Not on beta.
See the new detail in the city and green areas. Bondi finally has a yellow sandy beach. Uluru looks glorious. Driving view is updated and now has speed limits and extra details on street signage.
You are still welcome to whatever I'm smoking.
Edit: the poor Brisbane River is looking a bit more like the Yarra for some reason.
Tells Aussies where they are forbidden from going in greater detail.
Why do Australians need maps? They aren't even allowed to go anywhere.
Spotted the weirdly Australian obsessed seppos.Google street view is the only way Aussies see outside without being hassled.
I had the original iPhone, then the 3G, then went to Android for 10 years odd. I came back to the iPhone with the 12 Pro Max because I felt it had caught up with Android and the Samsung/Pixel models - and fancied a change.“Siri intelligence” ?

It’s awesome and I really like the iPhone now (it also led me to go back to the Mac and buy a MacBook Pro, AirPods and Apple Watch - which is exactly what they want. Straight into that trap I went!)
I’d say all flagships are on a par now, which is a good thing. But I’ve still never met a community of users who are so in denial about any faults their favourite company may have
Apple Maps is rubbish! It’s useless! Google rules in the Maps world. It’s very hard to deny that.
Saying that, I still use Apple Maps because I don’t see the point in switching then installing Google Maps straight away. I’m a glutton for punishment.
I live in the UK (near Southampton), and have also used it a lot in France and Spain.Where do you use Apple Maps?
Used it all over South Australia and Tasmania + NSW. I tried using Google even though it doesn’t look as good. When I came to TAS, it took me around done very windy and potentially dangerous roads. It may have been quicker (who would know), but Apple Maps has almost always served me better.Where do you use Apple Maps?
Does it have stop signs, traffic lights, etc shown on the map?Tested today - Maps did not show the reduced limit during school zone hours.
Yes, it had that even before the updated map data on iOS 15.Does it have stop signs, traffic lights, etc shown on the map?
No this is part of the updated maps. Australia has never had this info.Yes, it had that even before the updated map data on iOS 15.
Sorry, I misread. We had stop light / speed camera warnings prior to the map updates. No this is part of the updated maps. Australia has never had this info.
Yeah I can’t wait to get these updated maps. Funny we do have speed cameras right now but that’s it nothing else. And they only show up when you have routing turned on.Sorry, I misread. We had stop light / speed camera warnings prior to the map updates.
Meanwhile, mine has dropped out. Gone, nothing, nada…I now have access to the new maps in Australia. Looking much more detailed now. Great having the speed and traffic light info.
Yep...was added back in late July/early August.Still nothing here, except routes now include severe weather warnings from BOM. That's new, right?
Yeah, it’s very strange. Things have been pretty darn good if you were to ‘tally’ the results of our response compared to many other countries. And we’re back to normal pretty soon…Spotted the weirdly Australian obsessed seppos.
Are these changes still showing? I saw them in Melbourne too for a couple of days and now they’ve all gone again.Started seeing the new map on my iPhone here in Adelaide.
Strangely, at the zoom level where buildings start appearing, lots of long defunct suburb names appear (many haven't been used since the 1960s).
