Agreed. I don't know why they don't. That could be a rather lucrative side business for them.

Last time I was in an Apple Store I suggested they use reusable bags with the Apple logo on them for shopping bags. I would love to use an Apple bag for my groceries! The non-woven fabric bags are pretty cheap and considering how much a normal purchase is, it wouldn't amount to much per person.

I think that's just it. I think they prefer it this way. It's kinda special having a mug or shirt or notepad that you can only get from one place in the world. Think about it,if they wanted...they could sell any of these items online and everyone would buy them.

Every 3 steps you'd take on the street you'd see someone wearing it.

I'm fortunate enough to only work about 15 minutes from there,so for me I'm able to go. All those who can't,I do feel sorry for them. It's nice walking about or into a Starbucks and 2-3 people asking me where I got my shirt from. It's kinda cool.

So? Apple is in the profit business, not in the exclusivity business. Wait a while and you'll see this stuff everywhere. If I was a major share holder, I'd want this high margin stuff everywhere if it's flying off the shelves in Cuppertino.

I think this change is deeply disappointing. I visited the store earlier this year and I loved that you could get T-shirts, jackets, mugs, hats, keyrings, badge tags among other things all with the apple logo on it. My favorite thing was the T-shirt sayings like "I visited the Apple campus but that's all I'm allowed to say" or "I visited the mothership." It was the only place in the world you could buy stuff like it. If you were an Apple employee or visiting the store, you had something that fit every budget. Now the apple logo items are limited and the selection looks anemic but you can get an iPhone or macbook here just like you can anywhere else down the street or across the world. IMHO, it makes this location less unique and less of a destination. What was a cool place for the apple faithful to bring home souvenir from the a campus visit is now just like any other Apple store. :(

Apple coffee mugs? Seriously? In an Apple Store? That is so Tacky. Way to cheapen your brand Apple.

This is sarcastic isn't it?

Otherwise, they've had coffee mugs and shirts for sale in this store (The Campus Store not the Apple Stores) for a long time.

It feels like it has Angela Ahrendts fingerprints all over it. That stuff was not fashionable enough for Apple.

However, I do wonder if they are going to have two stores, one more of product store, and the other more of a specialty store? And this is the one that will become the on-campus Apple Store. Did't they say there's going to be another one in another building after the Mothership opens?

lol, unless they sell the t-shirts now for $500+ then that is not the model the apple store works.
They sell these items in 1 loop just as a remembrance from their time visiting 1loop. They currently aren't interested in selling clothing to make money.
Right, but you missed the point entirely.

Just a store full of screen printed junk. I don't see the draw to this kind of merch.

I agree so much! this is very special way to earn and I don't think I will buy the t shirt if I see so many people wear it on street! I got one too and so many people ask me and think it is cool haha

I know what you mean! However we should be glad they still have those t shirt and hope they can have it more in future!

The Company Store is DEAD! - Long live the Company Store!
Anyone that has ever been to the original Company Store at the Apple campus before is mourning the opening of this sterile & soul-less store. It's sad that Mrs Ahrendts has taken away a large piece of Apple's history that has been the mothership for the macfaithful, developers & employees for over 20 years. I went to this store for all the unique products and the cool Apple swag, but now this is the worse Apple store in the Bay Area. Why would anyone shop here now? Minimal products for sale, no genius bar, impossible weekday parking, and only 10 pieces of extremely overly priced swag to choice from? Now I have to pay $30 for a t-shirt to promote your brand Apple? Nice work.
My roommate works at corporate and he said that employees are pissed over this "upgrade" and wished she never touched it. But I'm sure the retail group is calling this "the best store launch ever!" It's a sad day for the TRUE Apple fans.

Wow... what a shame! :( I'm thankful I was able to visit the store a few times, especially since I'm on the other side of the country. Once in the mid-90's we visited, but the store was closed since it was the weekend. I remember peering inside on all the Rainbow Apple logo'd goodies.... I have a few photos of that.

Years later, around the time the iPod Mini was out, I visited the store and took a bunch of photos / videos. Then, just a few years back I visited and grabbed a nice orange shirt which had a fun "Rumor has it..." tagline on it and a water bottle. I'm glad I did!

On no Apple is doomed™ because the company store no longer has rainbow colored logos all over the place and cheap colored pens and key chains like you'd find in an airport gift shop.

A visitor center is being built at the new campus. Once the new campus is open that's where visitors will want to go and the store at infinite loop will just be an Apple Store that Cupertino never had.

I loveed everything the Company Store had to offer back then, they had a large inventory to choose from (mouse pads, keychains, hats, water bottles, lots of stuff). I've waited three months for this "remodeled" company store to open up again. Boy, was I disappointment after visiting Saturday. This place is just another apple store with a few selections of merchandise thrown in to satisfy fans. I was shocked when I saw the prices. $30 for a mug. $30 for a shirt (like 50% more then before). $35 for a water bottle. Tried to grab the mug on display to purchase, but was told I can't, and he needed to request one from the back. Talk about a step backward. I just wanted to get out of the jam pack with a mug and now have to wait? Please Apple, I'm not buying an iPhone, this doesn't require inventory to be brought from back. Just let me shop on my own free will and let me check out when I'm ready like the company store at the registers. Sometime having registers makes sense. At least we got free shirts.

You are right. I bought one for $29.00

The free one was also the same as the $29.00 :apple: T-shirt, but the material was different.

Here is a photo of some of the things. I bought the white flask, 4 t-shirts, a notepad (paper) and a large dark mug.
