Thanks! I’ve seen rumors of a Shelby Mach-E which would be interesting ?
Shelby isn't what they used to be
This is an abomination of a Mustang. It doesn’t even have a proper door handle and it looks like trash.

For 2023 Ford is rumored to be creating an all new hybrid Mustang with a V8 powering the rear wheels and two electric motors powering the front wheels. Now that sounds interesting! You get great gas mileage 90% of the time and then when you want that throaty V8 to rip you get that as well.

You also get AWD so the Mustang will finally be a practical car in areas that get snow, even if the ground clearance is fairly low. My main concern is how much it will weigh, especially if the engine and motors are all up front that would put a lot of weight on the front. Kinda wonder if they would consider driving the front with the V8 and the rear with the electric motors? Guess they could stack the batteries in the back, taking up part of the trunk space in the process.

I’m curious about range. Hoping it’s at least 120 miles so I can drive to see family on electric only. 180 would be ideal but that’s a lot for a hybrid, even in 2023. Although who am I kidding, I’ll wait a few years for them to work out the kinks so it will probably be towards the end of the decade before I get one. I’ve always wanted a Mustang since I was a kid. Something like this I could actually justify to my wife but it will probably cost a ton.
This is an abomination and you've never owned a Mustang? This is the best non-Shelby Mustang ever made and I own 4 of them.

Test drove a few trims of these before buying a model 3 LR.

They are ok, but they really don't stack up to Tesla in any area except maybe they have a bit more cargo room.

Also, the dealership experience was highly annoying. I usually shop the upmarket brands, which don't typically give you the slimy feeling that the Ford dealers did the second they greeted me. Tesla's "Store" approach is nice as well.

However, I do like that so many boomers and gen-Xers get big mad over this having "mustang" in the name. Muh 5.0, muh two doors, muh two world wars!

EDIT: Also, cannot imagine buying an EV that doesn't have access to the Supercharger network.?.

I am in my late 20's almost gen z and this makes me angry I know plenty of Genz enthusiasts who went out and bought a Tesla out of spite myself included. Nothing will ever replace the 5.0 people who keep bringing up 0-60 etc. are completely missing the point of muscle cars.

Reading through the Ars Technica article on the worst automobile year ever, 1980, the review has this to say about 1964 when the original Mustang was launched:
When the Ford Mustang, basically a rebodied Falcon, arrived two years later and sold more than 1 million units in 24 months, Ford’s success reinforced one perception among all of Detroit’s bean counters: innovation doesn’t sell; style does.
Damn, Ford got it all wrong, trying to innovate with a Mustang! Still very happy driving my MME, though!

There is no point to muscle cars....

However, my point was simply to note the ridiculous outrage over Ford calling the Mach E a "Mustang". They could call the damn Windstar (do they still make that?) a "Mustang Windstar" and it wouldn't really matter. It's not the same thing as the original formula. (I think I might be agreeing with you here?)

Also, the mustang is really a "pony car" according to all of the old people that still put the rickety things on a pedestal. Not that it really matters... It's really the same thing as a Camaro or Charger. But if I'm buying a RWD V8 2 door, make mine a lightly used Lexus RC-F.

I will miss the YouTube videos of people wrecking mustangs leaving car shows and cruise nights though.

I've owned this car for about 2 months. A few of my thoughts.
  1. The name is dumb. Great car, but it's not a mustang. I guess they wanted the name recognition.
  2. I've never had CarPlay and I love it....when it works. About 20% of the time it does not connect (both wired & wireless). Sometimes i can manually press buttons to make it connect. Sometimes i have to completely turn off the car and restart.
  3. Using my phone as a key is very buggy. 50/50 if it works. Very important to have a backup method to enter & start the car.
  4. I hate the physical volume knob placed on the screen. Waste of space on the screen. Feels & looks cheap. I never use it. I use the volume controls on the steering wheel.
  5. My wife drives a Tesla model 3. The charging network for Tesla is far superior. Superchargers are rock solid dependable in our experience. Electrify America, Chargepoint, etc cannot be counted on. Always have a backup plan for when your charger is out of service with the Ford. Watch MKBHD's video as an example.
  6. I'm a tall and large person. I'm much more comfortable in the Ford vs our model 3.
  7. The range estimate is much more accurate in the Ford versus Tesla. Tesla's estimate is very best case scenario.
  8. I wish it had Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, etc on the screen while charging. That's really nice in the Tesla.
  9. I like having more physcial buttons to control things like windshield wipers with the Ford. Never feels safe playing with the screen on the Tesla to turn on wipers.
I appreciate you listing the ‘pros and cons’ to both. If you had to list what you feel has more power driving both the Mach and M3, what would you say the differences are between both models with power/torque/handling, ect. If you don’t mind listing them.
