So rare to be able to talk to an actual owner of this monitor. Can you give any more detail on the fan noise? Does it rise or fall with heavy or longer sessions?
And what do you think of the display otherwise? What resolution are you running? Does text look crisp? Are the brightness and black levels noticeably better than standard LCDs?
I haven't noticed any rise or falls in noise. If I'm being perfectly honestly, I can only hear the fan if I put my ear directly to back of the monitor where the vents are and once I'm a few inches away I can't hear it.
I use the monitor with my Linux desktop and MacBook Pro. On Linux I use the full 5K2K, on macOS I do 3840x1620 for HiDPI. macOS is okay at the full 5K2K, but I noticed the text in the Messages app was a little blurry—text everywhere else was fine funnily enough.
I'd say black levels are noticeably better, but it's not OLED. If you're expecting no washed out greys at all or no blacklight bleed, you'd be disappointed. However, as an IPS display it's great.
It does have internal power supply, there is no power brick. The entire monitor and features are practically the same, and I run this with MBP M5 Max fully maxed out benchmarking with 0 fan running from monitor. It pull 140W just fine with uniformity settings.
