I'll try mine out sometime tonight or tomorrow with a PS2 and a Gamecube. From what I hear it works very well... but I'll try it myself at let you know.
I'm waiting for the XBox 360 to get it hooked up to the component input running at HD resolutions :)

Thanks. I'll be looking forward to what you find out. It's going to be exciting when the next gen consoles come out because all of them (maybe not revolution?) should have no issues connecting to a computer monitor. Or am I wrong on that assumption?

As far as I can tell so far, these screens (I have the 2005 at home) are not calibratable "enough" for prepress/design work.
I want to get a 2405 too, but I want to hear more from pros like you. It might be fine for the home user, but I need it for design work (not print) too and I won't get it if the colors are wack.

Sorry I can't help you, I hope there are others here who will be able to help you.

Hey, sorry I keep forgetting to try it out. Been too busy...
Anyway I move out to college this weekend, and I'll be sure to hook up the PS2 and gamecube and see how it looks.

I'm now sitting with a 24" display wondering if I should be good and return it....GRRRR damn morals.
Send them a letter and ask them to pick it up. Being Dell, chances are they'll never show up.

This is precisely what happened to my brother. They had two 17" LCDs delivered, instead of the one they ordered. They contacted Dell, said they had a monitor they didn't order, and could they please come pick it up.

It's still there a year later.

I am thinking about returning my new 23" ACD and getting the DELL 2405FPW.
The image quality of the ACD has leaved me underwhelmed because of the "grainy" texture on the screen. For instance, when I look at a white area like the yahoo home page, there is a sort of sprinkled glitter like coating above the white area.

Does anyone know if the dell screen has this grain effect on it as well? I read somewhere that since apple and dell use lg panels for their screens, there would be the same textured coating. I need to know as soon as possible because the ACD has to be returned to apple by saturday.

thanks

Wow, this is the thread that keeps rearing it's head!...

Despite being a long-term Mac freak, I recently purchased the 24" Dell instead of 23" ACD - because I had read about so many negative quality issues surrounding the ACD, and only good things about the Dell. Some people on this forum said Apple had fixed the ACD's occasional pink shadows etc, but I didn't want to take the risk - and I'm glad in hindsight that I didn't. ...Because the Dell is perfect.

I visited Yahoo's home page but (I'm not gonna be much help here) I don't know what you're taking about when you refer to "a sort of sprinkled glitter like coating above the white area." I'm not saying it isn't there on my screen - it just isn't anything that I can confidently identify. You should go into a store if you can and check the Dell screen for yourself.

The only possible criticism that could be levelled against the Dell screen as far as I can see is that some graphics professionals might find the colors too saturated (intense/ bright) for them to always get a good impression of what the image will look like in print.
