Mitchell, do yourself a favor and do an AMZ search for Cable Box! You can run a slim extension cable from your socket to the box, and put all the power bricks and most of that cabling in the box. Will spruce up the rest of your bedroom, that looks so nice apart from that mess of bricks and wires
As for everyone else, if you can't afford $3000 mattresses, investigate
- nice sheeting. Expensive sheets (very fine threads, very thick are what matters IMHO. But not satin, that's just awful in terms of slipperiness) seem pointless till you try them. Unfortunately they're often sold starched, so they will feel different, and much less nice, in the department store than in real life. A female friend forced me to get these and I am so glad she did so. I got the Macy's 1000 thread count ones. Probably will be on sale on Black Friday...
- a foam topper. This makes your bed soft, but not saggy and doesn't "suck you in". Main thing to remember is that when you sleep you are spread over a large area, when you sit, you are spread over a small area. Meaning if you get a thick one on the assumption that that's more luxurious, main thing is you sink deep into it when you sit reading... IMHO even 2" is thicker than ideal; I'd go for 1.5" or so. IMHO the expensive ones add nothing to the value --- but then my room is a nice temp, so I don't need cooling gel and copper infusions and suchlike! Likewise I've seen no value in the ones with patterns and zones.
You can get a cheap one in twin at Target for like $25 or less. Get a cheap one, try it, and if you like it get a slightly nicer correctly sized one. But don't think that "if 1.5" is great, 2 or 3" will be even better!" Like I said, that doesn't work unless you have specific needs; you just land up sinking deep in foam while reading :-(
- fitted sheet clips. Super cheap, work so well! You don't realize how much you hated your fitted sheets moving over time and not lining up correctly till you start using these.
- a weighted blanket. Maybe not for everyone, but most people who have tried them seem to like them more than they expected. You don't need massive weight, it's not a competition! Again, get a super cheap one, see if you like it, and then if necessary get one that's slightly nicer and a better size match for your needs.
