I agree, but then again other users are reporting that water somehow got into their Eve outdoor cameras. User error for sure as I've had 4 hooked up for months (that I installed and wired myself!) and they're still dry.

They make gaskets and gang box covers with seals for a reason...
User error? The camera is a sealed unit - there's no possibility of the user doing anything that could result in this (other than deliberately tampering with it). Probably just a case of a few badly made ones with a glitch in the sealing, or got bumped badly during delivery - these things do happen... The support guy at Eve agreed it was faulty and told me to return it.

The Netatmo takes a completely different approach to weatherproofing, basically letting water in but using HZO coating to (hopefully) ensure the water can't damage anything. Even these are prone to water problems though, as evidenced in multiple postings on their support forum, as the microSD cards are a weak point, requiring a liberal application of silicone grease to keep water away from the contacts.

Thank you for this context, I now see that is in fact a defective camera and not user error on your part. Apologies for the slight.

I interpreted "water inside" to mean from the back where the electrical wiring is done that caused a short and not literally inside the lens cavity.
