I'm still with my 15PM, and still indecise if changing or not. But I think I'll wait for next one.
Any relevant improvement on camera shots image quality over the 15PM? That's the only thing on I could fall...
Wait for the 17 models.
With all three camera lenses upgraded to 48 mpx this will be a way better upgrade. 15 pro to 16 pro would be a waste of money.

Pretty disappointing year for iPhone besides the upgraded battery life. It feels like a wasted year of progress. There seems to be a lot of innovation within some Android phones, especially Chinese ones, but Apple and Samsung both just seem content to rest on their laurels rather than actually innovating. Bummer.

I opted for the 16 Pro Max, and my wife opted for the 16 Plus. One interesting contrast between the two is the weight difference... hers somehow feels way lighter than mine. I assume that's reflected in the battery life, but I haven't really had much opportunity to compare that, myself.

I hardly ever use the camera button... but that's not necessarily a fair review, since I also hardly ever take pictures in the first place.

I think I prefer the mute switch over the mute/multipurpose button, so that feels like a step backwards to me.

Other than that, I honestly feel much like ozreth... it's just another iPhone.

I’m happy Dan has been (mostly) enjoying the 16pm.

I’m on the 15 plus still, and I’ll probably hold out for either an island-free iPhone or a folding iPhone that will allow me to ditch the iPad. I know, probably going to be a while.

If the on screen awareness is really working as promised it could be the game changer for Apple AI but I’m not sure if it will really work so well as presented.

"Battery health remains at 100 percent at 101 cycles and battery life has been impressive, but this is the iPhone 16 with the biggest battery."

What is "impressive?" The battery life on my 16 PM is far worse than it was on my 13 PM on ios 17.
Same here. Poor SOT.

I agree it’s a very minor upgrade. Curious who know what people here would (realistically) like to see in a new iPhone to reinvigorate it?

I find the 16PM battery life to be quite a bit less than my 13PM. It's semi-annoying.

For Apple Intelligence, I can't tell if I am being a curmudgeon, but does it seem more error-prone than old school Siri? What's going on here?

On my iPhone 16 Pro Max the keyboard is very off and on.
Sometimes it responds and sometimes it doesn't.

Every day I have times when I've had to press the same key many times in order to get it to work.
Very annoying and I've never before had this on an iPhone. Especially annoying when it's the back button that won't work when I'm trying to erase something.

I've had the keyboard delay, when you keep typing and the words will appear about a second later.
But this is a new thing and super annoying.

A phone with conversational AI. I'd like to ask Siri to change a subtle setting on my phone without digging through menus.

I also want seriously crazy battery life. I don't need a 0.1mm phone. Give me a legitimate 24+ hours straight of legitimate battery life and I will cary the extra 1mm. No more tips on how to maximize battery life.

Siri reminds me of the New York Jets.

Apple advertises all these "amazing" iPhone features and then the support document recommends turning them all off to improve the battery life. It's pathetic.

Except it’s slower than pressing the Action button on the left side when phone is locked.

Phone is locked and screen off: press and hold Action button to go straight to Camera.

That doesn’t work with the Camera control button unless phone is awake.
It’s up to the user whether they want it to work when screen is on/off or on only.

Settings >Display & brightness >Camera Control>require screen on toggle

Mine is set to open with a double click whether the screen is on or off so it always opens consistently and never on accident.

What did you think it was going to be? A nuclear submarine?
No, but is making it a little better than a diesel submarine too much to ask? The pro phones specifically are pro because of what exactly? And how many emoji features do we need? It feels like Apple's main focus lately, and by lately, I mean at least the last 5 years, has been emojis and very minor cosmetics.

Except for every time I quickly need to take a picture. Way more effective than having to long press the Lock Screen camera button.
Honestly we should have been able to do more with what we already had in previous generations of phones but that’s just not the Apple way. A double press of the power button when the phone is off brings up Wallet but a long press does nothing. An option should have been added to program a long press of that button to launch something else when the screen is off vs whatever accessibility setting one sets for it while the screen is on.

Every iPhone is basically the same but that's obviously not gonna change unless Apple would do a complete iOS overhaul like iOS 6 to iOS 7 but I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.
Of course, it isn't going to happen anytime soon. Why would it happen when Tim Apple gets an 18% salary increase and is making $75 million a year for sleeping on AI and releasing buggy code that kills the battery life and is still missing features that Android implemented more than 5 years ago?
