Look, it's probably the upgrade I have felt the most since the iPhone 13 Pro Max, particularly the camera, battery life and overall snapiness (the RAM helps), but it's not a game changer. If you have anything older than a 12, it's worth upgrading. An iPhone 12 or 13 Pro Max? Wait until the iPhone 17 PM and anything newer should hold up for years.

One should upgrade when needed. When the old iPhone is not good enough. People would complain less about how “meh” the upgrade is
True. I was after the camera button since I take many photos as part of what I do. Was just hoping for a bit more from the rest of the phone and the AI features.

He’s been dead for over 14 years, I’m so sick of people bringing him up as though they have any idea what he’d do. None of us can possibly know what he’d think, let the man stay dead.

Iconic people are brought up all the time. Perhaps you've heard of Beethoven, Mozart, Einstein, Planck, Bohr, Picasso, Tesla, etc. Because they have been studied and analyzed over the years, we can infer what they might have done in certain situations.

Very myopic view. I think there may be a laundry list of other items apple has done annd innovated …even if by your opinion you wouldn’t consider them innovation.
What have they innovated outside of the roadmap left by Jobs? Vision Pro?

The iPhone has lost its touch, in my opinion. I know some people who remain loyal to iPhones, seemingly just for the sake of the blue bubbles in iMessage. CooCoo 🥴
100%.

"It just works" is gone and so is "Stay hungry, stay foolish."

Ain't nobody is hungry or foolish in Cupertino anymore. The hungry and the foolish are in Asia now, and they're about to eat Apple's lunch if Tim Apple is going to continue slow-walking Apple on the path of mediocrity, which he will because he's Tim Apple.

No one is listening to a piece of modern music and wondering what Beethoven would do differently with it. There’s a difference between bringing them up in awe of their accomplishments and “Beethoven would fire everyone that worked on Taylor Swifts new album because it sucks.”

Modern music is a wrong example and you're missing the point.

You said, "...I’m so sick of people bringing him up as though they have any idea what he’d do. None of us can possibly know what he’d think..."

I simply pointed out that we do have an idea because Jobs' management style and quality standards are well known. It's also known how he dealt with people who didn't perform up to his expectations. Read the books about him and listen to the interviews.

What haven’t they innovated? I’m interested in your list so we can discuss further.
Depends on your definition of innovation. They have made many cosmetic improvements and changes, but besides the Vision Pro, I don't think they have innovated anything outside of the roadmap left by Jobs.

Not eating, I said about to eat Apple's lunch...Rome wasn't destroyed in one day.

Samsung (Galaxy S24 Ultra)
HUAWEI Mate X6
OnePLus 13

The software is a separate discussion, but the design and hardware have passed Apple's pro phones, in my opinion.

Great examples. By the way Taylor Swifts definitely is hotter than Beethoven 😅

again: Apple Watch. It changed smartwatch world. But also iPhone today is much different from what Jobs designed.
This “innovation” thing is a joke. We are in 2025: you cannot innovate forever. The technology is mature, and now it goes on with refinement instead of innovation (even Vision Pro is not a real innovation, if you think about that).

I got an iPhone 16 Pro and I’m enjoying the experience with it. The cameras are great, but I don’t use the camera control so much.

Just upgraded from 14 pro as there was a really good deal with carrier. Went with the max this time and although I’m still getting used to the big size I’m enjoying it. The green silicone case looks really nice as well 🌲
