Given the sites track record with schilling for nomad this thing must be BAD if it’s not all praise.

While I've wanted a good 3-1 wireless charger for my nightstand, to me, most of the prices are too high. Give me a good one for about $80 and I might buy. But a lot of the better ones start around $125 so I'll wait. Soon enough there will be a glut of these things and the prices will come tumbling down. But for $170 and missing functionality, Nomad has most certainly gone in the wrong direction with their attempt.

If you’re complaining about price, you’re missing the point. There are many cheaper options if functionality is all you’re looking for, but premium materials and premium build quality comes at a cost.

Is it worth it? To me, yes. This isn’t a phone that you might benefit from upgrading after three or four years. This is a charger. It’ll last at least a decade, probably longer. For that amount of time I’m willing to pay 50% more for quality. And the quality of these things is very good.

As to the form-factor? That’s personal preference. I still prefer flat chargers like this, but Nomad do make an upright charger that’d work with the new standby mode, if that’s important to you.

Fast-charging takes a toll on the battery.
Is there any evidence that Apple Watch battery health would be compromised by using fast charging instead of slow charging?

Counter evidence: Every Apple Watch sold in recent years comes bundled with a fast charging chord, which would indicate that Apple's own research have not concluded fast charging to significantly harm battery health.

Any form of current going through a battery generates heat. The higher the current, the warmer the battery gets. Heat has been demonstrated to be detrimental to battery health. Apple is designing products that are a trade-off between longevity and convenience based on consumer demand.

That the Watch can be fast charged does not mean that Apple has solved the problem of fast charging without higher battery degradation.
