Are you serious? That is good news , I could not tell if the black sides was wrapped in leather , but this is wonderful , the one I ordered has white sides , meaning white leather !

Yes. Its slighly padded too, making it comfortable to hold (and as a bonus no fingerprints). The article linked in the thread starter touched on that a bit. The cover on the sides is a different, smoother texture.
If I had to guess, the threading along the back connects the back and sides, while there must be glue along the interior of the sides to hold the thing onto the hardshell.
It's been a week now and shinnorie is still hand crafting my case ?
Same here. Wondering if they might have just forgot to send out an email or what. Maybe the OP can give us an idea of how long it took them to ship initially.

My case shipped on 7/26
According to them that was an unusually long time. Long story short, they redesigned the cases in that timeframe. They actually sent us all photos of the new design and an option to cancel the order or accept the changes and a 20% discount for our troubles. I thought that was really nice and stayed with my order. They credited me immediately.
Right now I am waiting for an RMA (they are sending me a new case that fixes the camera flash issue that was mentioned in previous comments), and my wife wanted one too (the white/blue one) so we ordered that.
So am in the same boat again. It is hard to wait Ill say that!
Oh and one additional piece of information: I dropped my phone about three or four feet onto a tile floor and the case provided a much relieving "thud" rather than a hard pop from a hardshell, so the leather wrapping really did soften the blow. No damage to anything including the case, no scuffs etc.

Thanks dugbug for sharing your story this is helpful but I think it made my patients even worst
lolon there website it stated 5-8 days to handcraft and ship my ordered product
And 13 to 18 days for delivery. Today is the eighth day since my initial order ,so I'll email them just to make sure if the handcrafting is done and ready for shipment dispatched

I'm really thinking about this case. I love that it has a leather look without being leather etc. But, I can't see dugbug's pictures. If anyone else has pictures to post, that would be fabulous. The page says "Customize the stitch color for a finishing touch to give your iPhone 4 case a unique and special look." Is that option readily available? I don't really like the contrast stitching on the monocrome black cases.

I just got the case being shipped out email last night so it was within the 6 days for me. Hopefully you'll get yours soon!
Yeah my shipment is also confirmed too!just hours after I emailed them , But no email confirmation with tracking number provided yet

You can't see the pictures? Sorry bout that. Can you see www.dyerware.com? Well anyway, try the original review on techulous, there are pictures there.
The color and thread combinations are fixed for this case, but there are a lot of them. They have some other case that you can fully customize, but I didn't like them... the currently all have a flip cover you have to snap.
Oh, and on the "leather look without being leather": The leather is "pleather", the polyeurethane/leather hybrid or whatever that means, and wraps the hardshell: the back, and the sides. The threading connects the two on the back. Lots of purses, sofas, etc. are made like this. And that is the extent of any knowledge I have in my puny head about the material (I even wiki'ed it before I ordered, lol)
I say that so you know its not a molded hardshell made to look like it has leather grain.

I'm vegan, so pleather is right up my alley. Generally, it's not a "hybrid" per se (since that implies that it is partially leather), but plastic or other synthetics blended to appear like leather. Manufacturers have gotten really good in making it look nice. I have some pleather bags and wallets that no one believes aren't leather.

Hey did you also receive a tracking number with the email too on Tuesday or Wednesday ? Well I just got my email notification and tracking number today the 20th , I tracked it and it was posted on the 20th and not the 18th like the website stated
I think they updated my status to shipped on the 18th to buy some time since I was emailing them too much (3 times) , I think I was getting a bit annoying lol .the 18th was the deadline to ship it out too.
They shouldn't mark the status to ship until the product is out of the company's hand obviously it wasn't until the 20th.
I know they're just 2 days behind the deadline but I just want them to stand behind there policy. Shinnorie business ethics didn't make me too happy today
Maybe they had a third party company to handle their shipping , how likely? Not likely since shinnorie rep told me that had their own shipping department
I know its a bit an old thread but I've problem with the case, I got it in Oct 2010 and this what happened yesterday.. the leather back is clearly glued and not sewed to plastic back.
Update: Shinnorie is sending a replacement case next week.. yeay!
