I have to take a look at this because I was planning on buying one of these too. Do you have a link to the discussions? I'd like to check it out.
Units? Presumably megasomethings/sec, but bits or bytes?
Interesting. So is there going to be a review from the OP? Otherwise is the Amazon one the same as the one on the website?
Be cautious of ordering one of these from Nifty. The discussion on their Kickstarter page suggests they've done a runner.
you can say that again. I bought 2 drives from their website after the Kickstarter run. I had to wait 6 month for delivery, to receive 2 cards of which 1 has the dreaded Read-Only error (See the comments on their Kickstarter page for more info.) To make matters worse, because I was not in the initial Kickstarter run, I don't have the same tools available for contacting them (Email ticketing system).
I mailed them in February for a solution and haven't heard back from them. They did indeed do a runner.

Looks exactly like what I got except you got better packaging. The colored edge is a little darker than the silver on the MBA but it's close enough that it's not too noticeable at a glance. Worked as soon as I stuck it in and works just like any SD card. No issues reading or writing.
Good photo's but still no review.
Totally agree. I almost didnt buy it for that exact reason. I couldnt find photos anywhere - that is why i posted this. Thanks for the pictures- I literally have not yet seen what the actual Minidrive Air looks like inside the Air! Can't believe they sell it as a separate product yet don't even have a picture on their website or Amazon of the adapter in the computer.
I tried it in a 13" retina, it does not fit - Too thick.does anyone know if the Minidrive Air will fit into a rMBP 15'' ?
Edison - I read that the Mac OS Extended was the fastest. No idea if it is true or not, but that is what I have been using. If you find something different - please share.did reformatted for MacOs Extended filesystem, or used it on default ExFat format.
The Kickstarter guys definitely dropped the ball - I was waiting for them to release their minidrive, but after reading about all those problems... glad i found this one.Be cautious of ordering one of these from Nifty. The discussion on their Kickstarter page suggests they've done a runner.
I edited the first post w/ a link to the one I boughtI was planning on buying one of these too. Do you have a link
I am running 10.7.5 not an issue for me.I thought I had read someone say that with one of these in place your laptop will not go into sleep or deep sleep or something.
This one has more of a "finished" look to it. Functionally it is the same though.Design wise this is basically an exact replica of the Nifty right?
exactly.Similar, seems to be glued better and the read only cutout problem seems to be fixed. They provide a small wire instead of a tool for extracting.
That is really cleverI use a staple to remove the drive since I don't plan on carrying that piece of wire around everywhere and staples are readily available everywhere.
I put up a much better review and included links to both the company website and the amazon page.Interesting. So is there going to be a review from the OP? Otherwise is the Amazon one the same as the one on the website?
you can say that again. I bought 2 drives from [the kickstarter NiftyDrive] website after the Kickstarter run. I didnt have to wait that longThat's too bad. I got one of their drives and it works perfectly. I had a bad feeling this was going to happen. Delivery time for me was about the same.
go for it.I think I am going to order this product tonight. Makes no sense to wait for nifty since it seems they are horrible at customer service and their product seems to be subpar at best. I'll let you guys know how this goes. Also, can't wait for a 128gb micro sd.
The Apple tech notes says the air will sleep (draws a little power) but not deep sleep (draws no power).
Has anyone confirmed that Jettison allows deep sleep, i.e. does the SD drive just need to be dismounted or must it be physically removed to enable deep sleep (AKA hibernation).
I've been reading that Jettison can unmount/eject a SD card (and perhaps a USB memory stick) but can't auto remount them with Mountain Lion.
