The only question is if Apple will release a separate KB with touchbar since that's how, IMO, functional it is.

That's right . I was thinking the exact same thing- magic keyboard with touch bar. Then we could try it with our desktop Macs without buying one of their seriously flawed laptops. But knowing Apple, it would probably be 600 bucks.

Flawed in what way?

Is that for the 2018 MBP's?

Keyboard. You here a few issues, but less than 2016/2017.
No USB A - true. It is gone and never coming back. Buying a $30 dongle will give you 2-3 USB A ports, SD reader, micro SD reader, and HDMI adapter.
Flexgate/Stage light - appears to be a 2016/2017 only issue. Updated part in 2018
screen delamination - I have not heard much about this in the new macbooks. But the coating is very thin. Anyone that cleans their screen all the time will have issues.

I might be ordering an 8 core 2019 model. I've been going back and forth as to whether to order it or not and decided that I might as well lean on the 14 day return policy. If I like it, I'll keep it. If not, it'll go back.

stay away from the MBP but its your money
i am on my 2nd MBP keyboard

even if not the keyboard it still is over priced and just not that capable
at least wait for the reviews

I got a maxed out 2015 rMBP as soon as it was released. I have had it all these years without a single issue. Sometimes I think about upgrading but then I read threads like this. I’m keeping it. It’s a great machine.

I have to go back on what I posted a few months ago… I have since sold that machine and gotten a 2018 model. It has been good for quite a while now – sometimes some of the keys start to feel weird, but blowing it out with compressed air fixes it.
