I got my Mod in the mail 2 days ago and within minutes decided to send it back. I haven't seen anybody mention this so I'm wondering if I got a bad case but mine doesn't fit well at all. Down at the bottom by the speakers/lightning plug the case bows out instead of fitting tight and flat across the bottom of the phone. I put the back plate in and tried it and same thing. It's a pretty large gap, almost like a U shape. I contacted Rhinoshield and they didn't acknowledge that it could be a problem and just gave me instructions to return for a refund.

So, anybody else see this or was mine an exception? Should I try to order another one or just be happy with my playproof?

I can’t speak for any being defective etc but I know I almost ordered one this weekend but $80 with all the fixens is a bit much. ‍♂️

I'll post some pictures later today to show what I'm talking about, if anybody who already has one could look at the bottom and maybe post some pictures that would help a lot. Blaine, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when you get yours.

Yeah I’ll end up with one at some point I’m sure. Leaning towards regular ole crash guard at moment.

Looking forward to pics since I’ve been considering the mod. Currently have a crash guard with no fitment issues- just want something covering the back tbh

I posted some pics of my phone with the Mod case in the iphone 8+ case thread. The clear back kinda sucks. It got very scratched up after two days of use. Some of the other back plates might be just fine, though. Link to my pics is below.

How do you like the fish eye lens? I was thinking of getting that, but ended up going with the Super Wide. My case is coming in today but with the carbon fiber back. Hopefully fitment is better than what's going on w/ OPs.

Here’s a photo I took with the fisheye.

I got mine yesterday and it has the same issue by the charging port and by the volume buttons. After seeing how they instruct you to take the phone out of the case when using a backplate by pulling on the bumper like a rubber band, I'm not surprised this happened right away.

I'll be messaging them tomorrow about it and send it back. Think I'll give the loopy case a try next instead.

Bummer I was really hoping to take advantage of the Black Friday sale to buy this case. I am not so sure now with how many bad reviews it seems to be getting on here.

Sorry guys, totally forgot to take a picture before boxing it up and sending it back. I'm sorry to hear that somebody else experienced this as well, Rhinoshield cases have been my favorite, go to cases since the first crashguard and this fit issue on the mod surprised me.

To try to describe it in words a bit more, at the bottom at the charge port the case bowed out enough that you could push it back probably about a 1/16 of an inch. I know that doesn't sound like much but I'm used to the near-perfect fit of the playproof and crashguard. You could see AND feel the looseness.

As for the buttons, only the volume up button had a nice, "clickable" feel to it, the volume down button and especially the power button were mushy.

I may give it a second chance and see what the black friday sale is like and buy another one. The return process is relatively easy, BUT....make sure you take a picture of the case and the box and any accessories you get as soon as they arrive because in order to return an item you need AT LEAST 2 pictures of the item "in an unused or near new" state. You also need to pay for return shipping.

To help others decide on this or not, it's not especially grippy but it isn't terrible. It's nearly the same as my crashguard but because of the rounder counter it's a little easier to grip than the crash. It's wider than the playproof but not quite as wide as the crashguard.

I got mine today and installed it. Mine doesn’t have the looseness everyone is describing but my side button is very mushy. Volume buttons are very clicky but I’m disappointed the side button isn’t I feel like the removable side button isn’t thick enough.

I’m going to give it a second chance. With the Black Friday deal and discount codes I’m getting a black mod with extra rim and extra buttons for $27.67

Will definitely post pictures this time whether I keep it or not.

How did you get multiple discounts to apply? Every time I add one, it just cancels out the other

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I only used 1 discount code but they had a special free button deal.

Out of curiosity does the backplate stick out past the bumper edges?. For example, if you set it down on a table does the bumper or backplate make contact

Yes the back plate sticks out past the bumper so it is subject to scratches, I've got the clear backed one and used it last night and its absolutely covered in scratches.

As others have said the bottom by the charging port also is a little bent like a U shape.

Nice concept but really bad design by Rhinoshield. They could've made the bumper thinner and raised the back so the back plates don't get scratched up.

My black case has the same issue you're having at the bottom. Did your new one have the same issue? I got my wife the white one and her case is fine. I thought I wouldnt' mind... but its kinda bugging me.

I sent pics of my case finally to initiate a return and I get a mostly canned response asking if I made sure the case is actually on correctly and if I watched the install videos.

Yeah my customer service sucking too.

Starting to get angry. Ordered RhinoShield Mod case last Sunday from Evolutive Labs website. Said would ship in two to three days. Emailed them yesterday morning asking about if my item, that I paid for express shipping on, had shipped and no response yet. Not a good impression to give people spending $80 on a case...
