I'm amazed that you can't even go to an Apple Store and pick up a plain old AW2 and buy it. Delivery dates I see on the app are still out to Jan 3rd.

If Tim wants to increase sales he might actually stock some in the stores. And I'm sure they're not in the stores because they are selling so quickly.

Some supply chain guru...

Actually this would be the reason. What other plausible reason could there be? While Apple may be experts on supply and demand it is going to always be part art and a 'best guess' game.

I know what you mean. I waited for my local Simply Mac store to get their watches in so I could purchase a AW2. I finally gave up waiting and ordered one on Oct. 28, and am still waiting for it. I want to get it from them because I am using some of my store credit to pay for it. It's really getting ridiculous.

I used istocknow and the one I wanted (SBSS) showed up on my local apple store, so I did a in-store pick up option and picked up 2 days later. So if there is a particular model that you want and not available keep checking. I've been keeping an eye on istocknow and I noticed that Mondays and Wednesdays i see watches come available while couple of Tuesdays I noticed that almost all 7 Plus models are getting stocked up at my local store. YMMV.

They arent sold out. My local Kohls has the AW series 2 sports in stock.

Apple does this to make it "limited" or they arent creating enough for demand.

I appreciate the link to istocknow. Interesting to look around. My rant is less of how for me to keep on top of inventory levels to snare one but the fact that they just have such poor basic stock across the board. The map for Alu-min-ium 42mm AW2 of any kind is a sea of red markers.

Walking into a Best Buy and seeing displays with no stock for 60-80% of items, or a Macy's with one size of dress on the racks, would generate outrage with retail analysts.

I've walked into an Apple store where it said it would be shipped there in a few weeks yet they had them in Stock. Wanted a SS model with thr white sports band and initially went in for the Black SS because the app said that was in Stock that day.

Yeah I agree it's ridiculous you can't get most versions of the stainless steel watch 10 days before Christmas. How does that happen? I get selling out of a few models but majority of them? Terible

I must have hit it on the right day or wanted the right model. I walked into my local apple store and wanted the AW2 42mm Aluminum Space Gray. Bought it and walked out. I did notice another guy who was trying several on was told not all were in stock. They did not have any stainless steel available.

You would think they would have ramped up for the holiday sales and had them all in stock. But I have given up trying to figure out the marketing decisions Apple makes.

You might be on to something. Think I got my Watches on a Tuesday.

Besides iStock, check Kohls and Macys too.
