just placed an order today online. hoping it gets here by the earlier date of 12/30.

Not entirely true. At least in Colorado, both stores have had intermittent stock.

It was a generalized comment based off their customer relations phone conversation I had with Kohls. Clearly I wouldn't know what Colorado would have in stock or any other state for that matter.

I ordered my Nike+ on 12/4 and got it 12/16. I was in Target today and online it said they didn't have any series 2 but they has the Silver and white.

Target usually has lower stock in store, but there stock online is far better when it ships directly from their warehouse.

Apple does this to make it "limited" or they arent creating enough for demand.
I doubt Apple does it on purpose, as some people claim. Mine came shipped by airfreight directly out of China, which is a quite expensive way of delivery, that would imho more than outweigh the questionable benefit of an artificially created shortage. Especially now with Christmas shopping on full tilt.

So either demand is severely outnumbering predictions or Apple does have a serious problem in production. After the Airpods desaster I'm not sure which one could have the higher probability.

Even if someone wanted to point the finger at Apple and say they are constraining stock on purpose, they would have no way of proving that. Only Apple would truly know this. Being the holiday season is here, it's hectic with sales through the roof with electronics in general, no one would truly have sufficient evidence stating what is constrained.

It's just the usual suspicion theories floating around, fueled by the fact that Apple does not release hard numbers so far.

Ordered the SS 42mm online 3 days ago and even that says delivery around the 10th Jan, so a total of 24 days for delivery, ridiculous :(

Went into the Apple Store in Hong Kong, Causeway Bay wanting the 38mm Nike+ black/volt. Had been agonising for hours over second third fourth choices as a backup butthey they had them in stock.

Hmmm just looked in stores around Melbourne for a 38mm for my wife and all showing pickup 10th Jan 2017 :(

Yeah, here (Adelaide) they were out of stock of the straight watch with black sports band, but they had plenty of stock of the Nike+ ones.

I got the Dark Gray and Volt one.
I got the black on grey band, kind of wishing that I'd gone with the black/volt one for a bit more uniqueness.

I'm amazed that you can't even go to an Apple Store and pick up a plain old AW2 and buy it. Delivery dates I see on the app are still out to Jan 3rd.

If Tim wants to increase sales he might actually stock some in the stores. And I'm sure they're not in the stores because they are selling so quickly.

Some supply chain guru...
That's crazy. I got one early but only because I was working in Hawaii and was within 5 minutes of three different apple stores. I checked them each 5 times a day.

I got the black/grey as well and regret not getting the volt.

But reall I don't like the look of the Nike bands in real life compared to the regular sport bands anyways. I really like my white sport band the best for working out

I'm surprised that they have that many Apple stores close to each other.

SS AW2 42mm. Ordered 14th Dec, stating 4th Jan, just gone to 'preparing for dispatch'.

I knew some status would change as I'm in the UK and it was bought under my Apple ID by my daughter who lives in the US and paid for it on her US bank card. She got a call yesterday (19th) checking for fraud and they made her go on again to make the payment. Let's hope it shows up soon in my Apple care agreements (the iPhone 7 showed up 5 days before launch day). Not holding out for Xmas, but hopefully before the new year...but there are so many bank holidays in between :(

Incidentally, what is the average time from 'preparing to despatch' and delivery?

Edit: as if by magic it is now dispatched. In china, should be here by 23rd apparently :) :) :)
