I've been thinking of upgrading from my 2011 11" Air (1.6 i5, 2GB, 256GB) for a bit now, and it seems like the time is ripe to jump on a refurb 8GB model. I love the feel and form of the 11" Air, and I use it between home and school (I'm a high school teacher). It's the perfect size and mix of features for me.

I love my 11-inch MacBook Air :)

Got it on sale from Best Buy as a brand new 2015 version for only $599. Figured it would hold me over for the next 4-5 years until the Macbook or Macbook Pro pricing comes back down to reasonable sub $1000 levels.

Here are things I find great about it:
  • So damn portable! (I always buy the smaller version of products 6s, iPad mini, 11-inch MBA, etc)
  • Super cheap ($599, albeit on a sale at Best Buy, is ridiculously inexpensive for a brand new MacBook)
  • Bright screen (Much brighter than the 13-inch MBA and even brighter than the 12-inch MB)
  • Great keyboard (Can't stand the new butterfly one on the 12-inch MB, feels so nice to have good key travel)
  • USB ports (Holy moly I don't need to buy additional adapters to plug in my iPhone or hard drives?)
  • Good performance (Anything I've thrown at this little guy, i.e. virtual machine, he's handled with ease)
  • MagSafe charging (It's nice knowing my MBA won't get destroyed if someone trips over the cord. Hah! take that MB and MBP owners :p)

Adding my thoughts for the best little machine I ever had, both 2010 and 2012.

My 2012 doesn't need replacing, though I wish battery life were better, but I'll be moving on to the rumored Samsung ChromebookPro that will replace my 2012 11" MBA and my 2012 galaxy note 10 tablet in one machine. I still need something portable enough to carry around in my purse for all our travel (which both my current devices together currently are) and the Chromebook will give me more ports than the new 12" MacBook, including a micro SD port.

I expect my 11" to keep on chugging for a while, but as I prepare for the inevitable transition, his days are surely numbered.

I've been waiting for a replacement to my 2010 MacBook Air 11". After the announcement this week I bought a maxed out (as far as Airs can be called maxed out) refurb 2015 11" from the Apple store.

I bet I'm not alone in going for that option. Would have liked a retina screen and the speakers of the other MacBooks but this should keep me going a few more more years yet.

I have the same model and had also hoped for a refresh of the Air line as well but who knows if/when that will happen. And even if it does, it might end up being as disappointing as the MBP updates.

I love that little machine and it compliments my 15" MBP well. I travel a lot and the 15" is just too heavy to carry when you're hiking/traveling though a lot of airports/trains/local buses/etc. The MBA is enough that I can dump and preview my photos. I make edits when I get home but if I ever need to do some stuff on the road to post, it's easy to do. It's so light!!

Anyway, I guess I'm off to the refurb section of Apple.com...

Still debating between picking up an 11 air, 13 air, and bottom model new MBP. Really would have liked an XPS 13 style, 13inch in 11inch form factor shell. Have an older 13 MBP, and wanted something a little smaller to cart to class.

The 12 inch macbook is the only comparable replacement for the 11 mba, but its just too lacking and too expensive for what it is.

Where would the best deal on an 11 be?
