Indeed, just got my k3vlar back from warranty (though I did have to pay $64 shipping to get it to memoryc in Ireland!) and I'll hopefully be performing the transplant and upgrade this weekend.

I'll let you know how the upgrade goes!

What upgrade are you performing? Did they send you a newer SSD than what you had before?

In any case, Snow Leopard will be a bit quicker than Lion on your system.

Err the upgrade is merely the transplant of the dead SSD to the new one, and then putting the OS back on. Unfortunately, there are not that many SSD options for the rev A MBA, particularly from the same manufacturer, so I got the same model back.

Haven't had a chance to do the transplant yet... will report back when I do.

@KPOM - thanks, will put SL back on.

Upgrade successful, Air is now running perfectly again. Very impressed with this machine. I've had it since ~Mar 2008 and have only had to spend a couple hundred dollars on an SSD upgrade (and the shipping to get the SSD replaced when it died...) to keep it going and to make it a very usable machine again. It's been literally around the world with me on my travels and hasn't skipped a beat.

Hoping she stays around for another couple of years!
