Hopefully their implementation is better than Walgreens' where I'm prompted for a pin, change option, email address, blood type and whatever other questions the terminal asks after accepting my Apple payment. I think that they missed the whole point about Apple Pay is supposed to be quick and easy...

At the Walgreens stores I go to (in the San Francisco Bay Area) all I do is hold my phone over the terminal with my thumb over the touch-id sensor. No pin, no confirmation, no signature - nothing. About two seconds.

My reason for liking Apple Pay is the security. I like that my card number isn't in the merchant's database with my name, blood type, and breathalyzer sample.

As Cuban Missiles pointed out yesterday on the AMEX thread, there are merchants that can make this more of a pain in the rear than it needs to be, especially when they need to "see the card" or the last 4-5 digits of the "card".

"dude... the security in this is more than the CVV code. I have put that in when I put my card in this phone/watch, and I need my fingerprint to authenticate it, after authenticating with my AppleID password. You think that having a 5 digit code is better?"

It's way too early to say any of that has failed.

Also: Apple TV, Ping, MobileMe... that's all that's coming to mind right now. Those are things that you could have easily called "failures" when they were just 2 years old. Ping went on to definitely be a failure. Apple TV is still in limbo. MobileMe was succeeded by iCloud, which is a modest success, I think.
Why aren't people getting your sarcasm! Wtf is wrong with the Internet? You laid it on so thick it should be obvious to anybody with half a brain cell

Haha !!

It took them long enough. They lost a lot of business from me, I drive a little bit further to Walgreens because of their stupid decision of not accepting Apple Pay.

Personally, my time is more important to me than using Apple Pay... or I guess it will be once we get it in Canada. :)

We do use chips and tap payment, which is as convenient, even if it is not as secure.

I believe this is not the retailer but your bank that has added these requirements as added security. My cards don't ask for PINs or anything... just point and go.

Where is MCX exactly? Looks like its DOA...
Also, do people seriously not shop at CVS or rite aide because of this? grow up seriously.

EDIT: Ok that was a tad harsh, but I dont see why i would drive further and waste gas to use apple pay..

Actually, I have 2 Walgreen's that are closer than either CVS or Rite Aid. I can't remember the last time I was in a Rite Aid and I avoid the CVS' in my area as they are older Longs stores that have been converted. The smell of the carpet they put in is horrible and their merchandise or lack of is starting to remind me of the old Thrifty's chain ( now Rite Aid stores). Neither chain has decent prices.

Can we all please just agree that Apple Pay is a total failure just like the new macbook air, apple watch, apple music.... Pretty much everything new created/announced under Tim Cooks awful management. I can't wait until he is canned.

I'll bite.

Why is it a total failure?

I don't shop at CVS because the ones here are way more run down compared to Walgreens. Also helps that the latter is usually across the street from the former.

I think all debit cards require a PIN.

No they don't. Stores just make it hard to skip that because it saves them money.

So Rite-Aid's press release says:

"By accepting mobile payments, we're able to offer Rite Aid customers an easy and convenient checkout process, which we know is important to them. Investing in mobile technologies is just one piece of Rite Aid's evolving digital strategy and we will continue to explore, test and implement innovative technologies that will help us to better serve our valued customers."

Glad they are "investing" in turning the hardware they already had back on! And I guess they still may "explore, test and implement" the DOA CurrentC system if it ever releases.

With all of the Hacking going on, you'd have to be absolutely INSANE, to turn over you bank account to a third party..

I wish I could fail like Tim Cook.

My failures don't usually result in making more money than every other company on earth.

Because it wasn't. A troll/hater post and sarcasm are hard to differentiate. But if you look at his history it's clear he's not being sarcastic.

Coincidentally enough....
You can refill your "crazy pill" prescription at the retailer mentioned in this thread! =P

The only problem here is that with Walgreens, the terminal asks you like 40 million questions after, donate to this, cash back for that, blah blah blah blah blah! Please Walgreens shed this excess.... >.<

OUCH.
Sucks to be a victim of your own insult, lol.
Everybody is right... as ridiculous as this guy sounds, he thinks he is being serious. You kinda called your own self out as not being somebody "with half a brain cell". *eek!* =/

Let's see it that ever happens.

Every time I go to Starbucks I go nuts ... have to whip out my phone and watch as they fumble to get just the right angle to scan the barcode to buy my drink. Drives me insane. Sometimes they even want to hold my phone to get just the right angle. Further proof that screen barcodes are 2000 and 2015 is the year of the contactless payment systems rise. Starbucks really needs to get on board.

CVS's dumb decision not to accept Apple Pay was just one reason they lost me as a customer for life.

Too late. Many people dropped Rite Aid and I doubt they will be getting most of them back.

Yeah, once you go Walgreens you get hooked on their silly Wellness Rewards program, it's almost like an addiction. I find that sometimes I buy the silliest things to get those 5000 bonus points. In fairness, you can really get some good deals if you shop their ad.

Isn't August 2015 when the CurrentC (or whatever god awfulness they went with for a name) exclusivity contract ended for everyone? I wish stores like Target would hurry and get on board.
Target is coming. They will add Mobile payments AFTER chip and pin deployment is complete. Do not want to bite off too much at one time. If you remember they have reason to be cautious.
