rmbp 15" heat issue with autocad LT 2015

I have lost my patience with this nonsense and arranged for an appointment at the genius bar tomorrow to have the unit inspected. Having owned almost a dozen Intel Macs I am very sure that this is not normal. :(

Well, I don't use AutoCad, but had an issue with heat, ambient light sensor, display brightness and fans during my first hours with my new rMBP 2015 2.5 with M370X. Everything went back to normal after a PRAM and SMC reset. If this doesn't help your case, you should report it to Apple and get a check up.

I am having exactly the same issues you have but with the lightroom cc after 3 or 4 minutes of usage i experience the same symptoms you have.
also my old MBP 13'' and older 15'' haven't experienced any of these wired stuff.!!!!!!

have you reached to any thing with Apple team

Uhm sorry for the late reply. The apple team was not at all helpful. In fact, they did indicate this was normal or that I was somewhat using it wrongly. Basically they said it was normal and the heating up was surely to blame on software I had installed. They kept repeating it might also happen when I use it in bed, although I said I only use it in a twelvesouth stand... Ergo no help from Apple's side. I got fairly annoyed and soon after purchased a skylake iMac for me to work on. But until today, that macbook is behaving abnormally...

No it couldn't.

On models with 2 graphics card, only the discrete card is connected to the external ports, the Iris isn't. It has nothing to do with OS X and 100% with hardware.

AutoCad is a very light use on a PC despite what they would have you believe. It is essentially the same software from the mid 90s, with various marketing spin and annual additions.

There should be NO issue whatsoever using any Macbook Pro for Autocad, I use AutoCad 2017 on a 2011 Macbook Air, 4gb ram, Intel HD3000 graphics on an external 1080p Monitor with large files, and it runs very well indeed with little to no thermal throttling or fan noise.

An Iris Pro 5200 graphics as similar in power to a Nvidia 730m, i.e. about 2/3 the power of a Nvidia 750m, so it is plenty powerful enough for most applications that most people use.

I have used AutoCad for exactly 30yrs. It is written to use the CPU and not the GPU for graphics.
While there is a switch in auto cad to use dedicated graphics, it goes against the grain of how the software works and is of no value at all except in very extreme cases.

It sound like a reinstall of the software is required.

my two cents.
