This is not even funny.

Skin the cat, make gloves, sell gloves, adopt a dog. Problem solved.

Why even attempt to fault an animal. Consider yourself given a new hobby, like go out into the green spaces more? If you pay so much for your gadget why not baby it? Why for the love of ... Would anyone keep liquids and harmful to notebook substances close to them period?

There should be a new Apple Mac ad where instead of PC VS Mac it should be dummy VS that guy or something to highlight how silly these accidents are.

See the funny in everything and just spend the extra money on a new notebook - it is worth it. *WINK* That is what landfills are for in India after all right???

Happy times yay!

Well I find it hilarious. Guy spends $3000 on a laptop, has a cat and a beer near said laptop, cat kills laptop with beer. How is that not funny!?

Hello
My cats pushed a glass of beer on my lappy while i was using it and it went in from the ventilation and everything. Now 3 days later i take it to a local apple maintenance place which isn't an apple store and he says it costs as much as a new laptop to fix. I got the laptop 3 months ago from usa as a student, will apple agree to replace it or do anything if i go back there, to an apple store?? Any suggestions? The guy here said the motherboard is fried, usb, retina, almost everything because its sugary water...

One idea is to buy a ThinkPad, they're designed for reliability & durability. While not as stylish as my MBP, my new ThinkPad is great.

They have a patented system that protects your laptop from spills. If water or any liquid is spilled on the keyboard it simply drains out of the bottom via holes that are designed for that. It's a great system.

If its a sticky fluid, it's only a matter of removing 4 conventional screws to replace just the keyboard which Lenovo sells for less than $90. It's brilliant. My first hand experience with this was amazing. The replacement was so easy to install I was up & running in under 40 minutes which included the time spent to view Lenovo's 60 second How-To video.

At least in Sweden if you have Homeowners insurance (and everybody has that here) with accidental damage coverage (almost everyone has that to) you can get it fixed trough that.
I've used it 2 times so far on accidental damage on my stationary gaming rigs.
First one was dropped when moved during the winter when it was slippery :(
And second one my full water cooling system sprung a leek.

Both times i got cash back from the insurance.
If you had the computer more then 1 year they deduct some value tho.
But that's no problem for you since its newer.

So check what your insurance company says.
Its at least worth a call. Also VISA and MasterCard have some insurance if you bought it with your credit card. So check that also if it apply s.

As a last resort you consider opening it up, removing the logic board and gently cleaning it with alcohol. Search google for guidance on that. There's a reasonable chance that you can get this working again if you're comfortable with a screwdriver.

If that doesn't sound like something you'd be comfortable doing yourself, you can find repair shops that will do it. Again, search google for that...

Ignore all the people on here taking the piss. **** happens unfortunately.

Just take it in to apple. See what they say, maybe you use a CC that covers damage. Or homeowners like someone else suggested.

Although Apple has no obligation to do anything (since it is accidental damage), it wouldn't hurt to take it in and have it looked at. My boss had a 15" MacBook Pro that was in a bag and ended up having a travel mug of coffee dumped in it (somehow a cat was also involved), and went to the Apple Store to see. It seems like the particular Genius that helped her/supervisor took pity on the situation, and they covered it. This was completely abnormal, but her computer got fixed and she didn't have to replace it.

Again, I wouldn't go in expecting anything, but be honest, maybe play the student card, and just hope that someone is feeling helpful that day...

You haven't had to bring a wet laptop to an Apple Store recently have you? They charge a few hundred short of a new or refurbed machine.

There are ways of fixing your computer outside of dealing with someone who gets $30/hr to tell you to buy a new computer.

I have to agree with this. I'm not going to argue usability or aesthetics, but in terms of durability - Lenovo has everybody beat.

You don't see heat from exhaust fans tearing the screen from the glass on a Lenovo. **cough** "Uni" body computers from 2008-2009 **hack**

OP, open it up. Take a picture. Let's see what we're working with! :D

Just go to Apple and be honest and upfront and explain what has happened. They may do something for you. If you walk in and claim it just stopped working then fibbing won't get you very far once they realise the truth.

Failing that, have you got home insurance?

i did that and apple store didnt do ****

If Apple Store won't do anything, you could try disassembling the whole thing, take out the logic board and clean it. However, the whole battery might be dead (water + battery = very bad cocktail).

Sorry for your loss :(

If you're not keen on opening it up and trying to clean it out yourself, you could consider something like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MacBook-Pro...124?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b3ebe5bc

I have no affiliation to the ebay link above, it's just the first one that came up on an ebay search. I've seen it cheaper elsewhere (around £75, whatever that is in dollars these days)...

Not sure exactly what the ebay guys above do but I've seen services where they basically remove the logic board, soak it in some kind of alcohol for a while, dry it out and sometimes that'll make it spring into life again. No guarantees that it'll work on your specific machine but it beats selling it for parts!

No no I totally get what you are saying the way you put it is extremely funny and it is funny because so many people buy these expensive gadgets, and lets face it, that is all they are, I was saying that punching a cat isn't funny.

=^_^=

Meeeeew.......
