got it... don't worry I'm JB too and people are seeing movement to Preparing to Ship.
got an email from apple overnight saying my order was trying to ship but my payment needed to be updated. 8 swear to god this is the first and last time i use Apple Pay for this; it's the entire reason my order errored out the first time and now it's giving me troubles again.
I went to the Apple Store app and updated my payment, but it immediately went back to Processing. really hoping that this didn't reset me inside a queue instead of just complete a hanging task while everything else progressed in the background.

No update for me. Still processing. I got my order in at around 3:08AM. I had a 9/16 date, but then it gave me the "we ran into an issue, no worries though we have an iPhone reserved for you. Complete your order later". I got the email at like 6:30AM and was unable to complete the order because another issue with their site. Finally at 11:55AM I tried removing US from the link like some said and my order was able to be complete but now with this date.
Just reporting in that my card was also charged and has now been moved into Preparing For Shipment! 7+ 128GB, black.

Finally saw the preparing for shipment and got the initial charge on my CC. It was placed at 2:26am my time on Sept 9 after 3 failed attempts to order due to the AT&T verification issues they had. Getting 7+ Black 128GB.
After completing my order, I placed one for my wife. Completed at 2:34am, same everything except she wants white, and her ships date was earlier then mine (Delivers: Sep 27 - Sep 29). We got the preparing message on her order Thursday, and just this morning saw her order is shipping. Should be here Monday per UPS.

I find it funny that so many people called and spent at least an hour on the phone jumping through hoops to convince Apple to move up their dates. If they had just sat back and relaxed they would have gotten their phones at the same time as we are all reporting now...
I had to go through this same thing. Only the reason was because my financial institution suspected the transaction was fraudulent and was declining the charge. Had to verify that the transaction was legit and have my card unrestricted smh. Once I did that and reauthorized the same card it went right through and my order moved to PFS. I appreciate the security with my card but darn it that wasn't the time for that! Lol!
