So there's a few PC gamers on the Rome 2 Steam forum who seem to think they have somehow been denied more content because the game is being re-launched on the Mac. They [ludicrously) think that Creative Assemblly could have done more DLC for Rome 2 instead of doing this. With Feral doing the job obviously one has nothing to do with the other but they don't seem to understand this. They are also making the ridiculous claim that this port was done out of "pity”. I don't think companies like Feral and Creative Assembly would have existed as long as they have if that was the reason they have even bothered with allowing Mac versions of just about the entire series.

I know it's probably a waste of energy debating with individuals like this who seems to have nothing better to do with their time but this really irked me for some reason so I felt I had to attempt to educate them. It doesn't look like I've been successful which isn't really a surprise I suppose which is why I've very rarely engaged in conversations like this before.

I just can't understand the hate here. Can anyone explain this? Perhaps somebody more well spoken than myself can attempt to explain this to these individuals.

I think the gist of the issue is that the relaunch includes new content, and current owners who play on the PC are not seemingly going to get that new content.

The conversations seem to be centered around why the developer isn't providing that as a DLC for other owners of the game. Seems unfair

People acting their shoe size not their age
People are tribal, I'm seeing some ridiculous posts for both the PC and Mac users. No surprise, people defend their platform with religious zealotry

I also dug a little deeper and it seems that the Imperator Augustus campaign that the mac users are getting, is already included in the PC version. When I first googled this, it seemed that the new content mac users are getting is unique and not on other platforms. Further digging seems to indiicate this update is catching Mac users up content wise. One other issue I think is the PC version is 32bit and the mac version will be 64. Truth be told, I can't see why some people are getting their panties knotted up over this. If the 2013 game is running well for you on your Alienware computer, who cares if its 32 or 64bits.

but this really irked me for some reason so I felt I had to attempt to educate them
In all honesty that sounds almost as bad as what you're complaining about. You feel you need to educate them? Who cares, its a 12 year old game. If you're a rome 2 fan on a Mac, rejoice, you get to play it natively. If you're a PC player, you're not missing out on anything. Either way just move on.

Well it was more because there was this assumption that by relaunching the game for the Mac it was somehow taking up resources that instead could've been used to create new DLC for the game. Since Feral is doing the new 64-bit port there's no way that's even possible. Whatever Feral is doing has nothing to do with development of the franchise for the PC.

But still yeah it was a waste of time to debate like that. I'm not one to get involved in stuff like that because you're never going to change someone's mind. There's never going to be a winner. It's just like debates about politics. A complete waste of energy. I was having a bad day so that caught me at a bad time. Oh well.
