Watches and clocks have not always been round. Square clocks were as or more common than round for decades. Square watches have been around (or is it not NOT round

) since the dawn of watches. Here is a good article about rectangular watch history

Common sense must tell you round watches are more popular.
Why do I say that?
Go out shopping for watches and simply look at the vast amount of watches on offer from hundreds of different brands.
What would you see?
I think we all know you would see more round watches.
And why might that be?
Do you think it's because the makers just sit down and think let's just make them round for no real reason, when customer love the square ones.
Or do you think, like almost every single company on the planet, they respond to actual sales.
You make more of the products that sell.
If your typical consumer, REALLY preferred square watches, they would sell more in that shape, sales of the square models would be higher, and the companies would make more in that style as that's what is selling the best.
That's what companies do. You don't make less of the best selling items, and more of the poor selling items.
Like nature really, what's popular and works/sells increases in numbers.
As I said. The very fact most watches are round, means they are preferred by buyers, and hence more get made.
