Its is still not possible to see if a song is part of a play-list :(

Or am I overlooking something here?

Well...After 2 full days with iTunes 11 I am finally getting used to it and really like it. I had no problems with the previous version and loved cover flow. I really will miss cover flow and wish they had included it but I'm equally impressed with expanded view under albums. With 5000 albums and over 60,000 songs this works better than cover flow. I was apprehensive at first but now love iTunes 11. To anyone who hates it or is on the fence, give it a little time and play around with it awhile it may grow on you, it did me.

It's a fine update.

Only my ears hurt a bit. Did they change something with the volume normalization? Or did they included a different decoder? I'm constantly setting my earphones softer and louder.

Some subtle features missing...

iTunes 11 is missing the info bit at the bottom of the window which told you how much time your library comprised in total media content.. for example, it would have displayed something like '4 days, 17 hours, 47 min 53 sec' representing the the total time it would take for me to play every song and music video in my library.

Oh, and no coverflow :( Playlists are also in a separate tab, not sure how I feel about that yet, but I keep moving left to see a playlist then I have to remind myself, it's at the top now...

Go to view then enable status bar. This will bring your info back to the bottom as far as number go songs/albums and days.

Does anyone use iWOW with version 11? curious if it has broken anything or not. It used to with some extreme changes in the past.

They removed it because it sucked, and became even more pointless over time. It was only created to prove a point with core animation to begin with, and has served no purpose since.

I used it EXCLUSIVELY in conjunction with list view, as my primary way of viewing my library. Now that it is gone, I couldn't care less. It just wasn't that good compared to what we have now.

Oh. It sucked. Thanks for telling me that, all these years I didn't think it sucked. I'm so glad you told me because I would have kept on thinking it didn't suck.

:p

Seriously though, as you can clearly read in these comments, some people like their Coverflow. You're right, it doesn't serve a huge purpose. But it looks great - and that's enough purpose for me. See, if they would have at least made an option to enable/disable Coverflow in list view in the options... but no, they had to get rid of it alltogether, pissing off lots of people. What difference would it have made if they just kept it? Zero. Well, one actually, we would have all been happy.

How to convert ID3 tags? Before you could right click on a song and select "convert ID3 tag" but it's now missing... and the bug still exists where lyrics only appear on iPods if ID2.2 instead of ID2.3 is used, hence my need to convert.

Does anyone know if you can make iTunes shuffle the songs you add to the 'Up Next' list? I'd like to shuffle songs by the artists of my choice.

I like iTunes 11

I really do. It's faster, the expanded view is both practical and visually satisfying, the mini player is usable and I still have the sidebar and list view if I want them. Haven't encountered a bug yet as well.
The loss of cover flow is nothing for me because I never used it. Same goes for the DJ function. All in all I am happy I upgraded.

In your menubar, View->Show Status Bar. It'll bring back the library info.

Apple have removed "Display Duplicates". Whilst it wasn't the best tool, it did serve a useful purpose, so I can't believe they've removed it.

Just noticed that despite my account being registered in the Dutch store, some things are coming up in in the same language as my system settings (English). This didn't used be so.

Obviously reviews are still in Dutch.

Not loving the changes.

This feels more like what Microsoft did with Windows 7, and now Windows 8. I see the same screens, although I have to dig through the interface to get what I want to see.

It's a mess... Too much interface in-your-face. I'd like to go back to iTunes 10. until I have to be dragged kicking and screaming into iTunes 12.

Seriously, Windows 8 will probably die because the UI is so brain dead. iTunes 11 is nearly just as bad... Not feeling the love...

My iTunes Match will not work since I updated. It stalls on step one for a while, then shows error 4002. I've tried turning match off then back on which worked for some but I've had no luck.

So after going through a very long troubleshooting session, I figured out why my DVD drive wasnt being detected. Itunes 11.

Removed the software and poof Drive detected like magic. Reinstalled 10.7 and drive works fine. So looks like I'll be sticking with 10.7.

I can cling to iTunes 10? I can go back?

How? I thought that there was no going back... (I am used to Apple being like that)

Okay I didn't read all the replies in this thread, but is Wifi syncing not working for anyone else in iTunes 11??

It did not work at first, but then I plugged in my iphone thru USB and also my ipad Mini thru lightning to Sync.

Now they're just syncing fine over-the-air again!

Hope this helps.

Has Apple officially repudiated the "it just works" tag line?

Or is the new line "Apple - pretty, but at times just as annoying as other operating systems"?

I downloaded 10.7 from here

And after uninstalling 11 and reinstalling 10.7 I got an error that 'Itunes Library.itl file is newer than the one found, etc...'

There should be a folder called previous itunes libraries in the Itunes folder in My Music and that will contain the older .itl file. Just replace the files and restart Itunes.

now this was for windows 7 64 bit. Not sure how it would be if it was a Mac.

There's apparently more than one of you?

Yep, I think there is quite a lot of us actually.
Apple should have at least given users the option. I personally love to flow through the artworks to get to what I want to hear, in a way I'd say that it influences my choices in the same way that it does when I scroll through my CD towers or Vinyl collections. It sets the mood, puts a little more personality to names and titles.
Sure, maybe it takes longer (but then again, you can use other methods wether or not coverflow is there).
Sure coverflow wasn't perfect, but it was closer to a physical version of the album than a pile of names and titles.
Hopefully this will be resolved in an update of Itunes 11.
