OK, I'm sure there are some people here looking forward to this. I'm looking forward to seeing the All Blacks try and shake of the choker reputation. France, South Africa and New Zealand are in the running for the title, I reckon.

Tonight, France v. Argentina in the Stade de France. France to win by 15 points at injury costs.

Official site

I cant wait for it to start, although I'm sure that Gareth Jenkins will be doing his best to make it completely forgettable for us Welsh!

I fancy South Africa to win the tournament after the All Blacks choke in the semi's (again).

Could be the All Blacks cup............ but Sth Africa might poison them again:D

Har har… only if SA's in charge of the catering… and somehow in France of all places… :p I doubt that.

Mind you, what new part of Wilko's anatomy is getting a fresh injury? Surely the guy must be some kind of walking medical reference by now.

2 certainties for this World Cup.

1. The Wallabies won't win it.

2. The All Blacks will choke.

I'm tipping France to win the ol' Webb-Ellis this time around.

I hate to say it, but I believe it could be France's year.

I have no delusions that England can win it, but my heart says New Zealand although my head says those garlicky surrender monkeys...

France having a shocker at the moment.

Much as it pains me to say it I hope the All Blacks do it. After all that unfulfilled promise over the years they're turning out with the best prepared team they've ever had, which should help with the choking.

England are unlikely to be up there but I'll still be in Paris next week for the game against the Springboks :D

France v NZ in the final.

That's a major set back for the french.
They'll have to improve on that performance.
Not that i'm unhappy about it:p
Go the Pumas!

We need a thread for this, to discuss the games and everything. Speak about your team, your predictions, bets (I will not condone this but anything under the table will not be noticed), current games and possibly france.

So, game 1:

France 12 - 17 Argentina

Big upset and I'm really sad I missed the only try in the game when my mom called me for some PC tech support- awesome replay though. Also, I thought France would really come back after that missed conversion after full time.

Now, who would have predicted that? Not me... gosh, that certainly makes interesting and France v. Ireland will be a corker. How sad am I to see France lose? :D

Pity it had to be the hosts, but upsets are good in tournaments like this. Makes life very interesting, opens things up and strengthens the case for allowing more teams into the competition. Good stuff.

I agree on the upsets. Will anyone go on a limb a predict an upset in tomorrow's USA v England? ;)

England lost the opening game of the 1991 World Cup and still made the Final.

France quite often need a good kick up the a*se to reach their best. Although if Heymans stays at full back they might as well give up now :p

SANZA need a good excuse now to keep the Pumas out of the Tri Nations.

Since half of the Argentine team plays in France, and the rest in the UK, they can make an argument to play in the Six Nations. That said, I'd love to watch them play in the Tri Nations.

Yeah but the 6 Nations are excluding them on terms of distance.

Home matches for the Pumas are a bit of a trek from "up top", compared to the distance travelled for all the other matches.

The Tri Nations has less of an argument for excluding them.

Actually I did: Argentina by 3 points (at www.superbru.com).

I think Argentina has beaten France 4 out of the last 5 games. So not totally unexpected. I saw France playing the All Blacks here in Wellington. Okay, it wasn't their top team, but a top team needs more than half a dozen good players. They were complete cr*p that day.

Looking forward to the first All Blacks game this evening (NZ Time) :D

Great start to the tournament!

Should make the Ireland vs. France game extremely interesting viewing.
