When I picked up my new iPhone 11 Pro Max, the Apple consultant in the store noticed that I didn't have a case on my present phone and he looked at my order to see if I had Apple Care +. I did. So he said that he was happy to see that my case was Apple care. Apple Care+ is your case.

Respectfully, I disagree.

My case and screen protector keep my iPhone in perfect, as new condition, enabling me to sell it on, in due course, for the best price.

My AppleCare+ extends my hardware warranty and tech support coverage and protects me against catastrophic damage. It doesn't cover any cosmetic damage.

For me, they are equally valuable and important.

I never understood why people are so upset about bezels, unless the bezels are larger than the screen size it doesn't bother me one bit. I use computers and phones with bezels and they look so fine... a full screen is better than a annoying notched one.

Bezels are a necessary evil of current display technology and make a device larger than it could be or a screen smaller than it could be. They also tend to house a speaker. The iPhone notch eliminated the need for a huge bezel (forehead in this case) by increasing screen size around it. IMO that was an excellent compromise; I much prefer the notch over a fully dead spaced forehead like iPhone 7/8. Agree with you that full screen is better than a notch, and no or minimal bezel at all is even better.

For Apple's next phone, if they do go the metal frame look of iPhone 4 and iPad Pro, then let the frame be all the bezel that exists! Hell, I'll take a small bezel at the top to house the speaker and cameras as this mockup has done and no bezels on the sides and bottom.

You need the Bezel so the screen does not crack on a simple drop. Ask your Assdroid friends to take out their full screen devices and count how many are cracked!

Keep the bezel, who cares if it is bezel-less it does not make any functional sense To remove them.

I want the Bezel to be the same color as the back!!!

Obviously the render looks great. I wonder how ready such tech is for mass production, and whether it really will be ready much sooner than under display cameras. Assuming the under display tech will ever been good enough, surely the ability to have larger lenses would make that the preferred direction.

Curved screens are more likely to break, sure, but the increased risk from curves is dwarfed by the simple fragility of glass. Modern phones tend to have curved edges for the same reason modern phones tend to have glass backs. People like the look and feel of phones with curved edges and premium materials. If we really were trying to protect from cracks, phones would have chuncky plastic backs and sides.

FWIW, none of my Android phones, nor those of my friends, are cracked. We also don't use words like "Assdroid", given we are all over the age of 14.

It does if you can functionally replace them with something else, like a metal frame that technically is not a bezel any more and remains user friendly.

In the end I just hope we don’t end up in an “Apple TV remote” situation where it isn’t immediately apparent which end of the phone is up.
Well, maybe it shouldn't matter anymore? Just let the picture rotate freely the way it does on iPads (and maybe innovate with camera positions for bonus points).

THIS is the phone everyone who bought the X-S-R-11-Pro-Max wishes they got instead. Considering Cook's track record with chassis redesigns, I doubt we'll see it coming earlier than 2021. Also, mr Geskin is a known for his brazen twitter attention hunting (don't want to use another verb).

I think I wished I got something even way more better than this. If I’m going to wish. I’m fine with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Hell, I’m fine with the new iPhone every year. I get the new one every year.

It sure matters because the cameras are only located on the top, as is the earpiece (Presumably).

When you pick up the phone to answer a call, you want to hear the caller. When you take a selfie, you don’t want an up-nostril shot. Etc.

We already have microphone and speaker on both ends. They are already used for stereo playback and recording. The phone knows its orientation so it should know which ones to use.

As for the camera It's for Apple and their OEMs to figure out. I'm sure the idea of fully symmetrical device has crossed their minds.

Most people think that is how the next year iPhone will look like on all sizes of the new model without any ridiculous notch.

The notch has been an ugly distraction from upgrading for me. The screen size feels like a misnomer since using the full size means part of your movie is chopped (or "notched") off and the rounded corners chop off even more.

Having a bezel and a precise rectangle without rounded edges to accommodate a 16x9 movie just seems more practical.

Agreed. The notch screen never made sense for a phone and it looks bizarre when viewing something that got chop off by certain area of the screen.

The problem with all screen phone is that it gets wrong touch inputs. Bezels good because it makes a place for your fingers to rest on. I have dealt with full screen samsung phone and it starts doing funny stuff because my fingers are touching the sides of the screen and giving inputs I didn't ask for.

I actually prefer the OnePlus's approach of hiding the selfie camera.

I don't like that you cannot cover the front cam on a phone, and my phone generally rests on a Qi charge stand when not on me.

until we get physical privacy sliders on phones like we have for laptops, you could do what everyone else did before we had them on laptops - place a pageholder tape over the front camera lens until you need it. Lmao!

all joking aside... makes me wonder why more and more asians are wearing mouth and nose masks lately. Is it cause just about every Chinese phone manufacturer is part of the Chinese government’s surveillance system?! I’m being honest in my curiosity here.

Oh, I get that. in my post though I am hoping that metal rails iPhone 4 style act as a guard for unwanted touches. BTW, those are supposed to be taken care of by software backed by ML and a metal frame could be useful replacement for a bezel. Most likely though in 2020 we won't get a truly all screen display so there's likely both a frame and (hopefully smaller) bezel.

Camera housed in the top bezel makes total sense. By removing the outer bezel and the notch we gaining larger 6.7" screen within the same form factor. The inner bezel may remain the same. The camera opening is only 1.2 mm:
