“Gurman says…”

He’s been saying a lot for a long time now, and he’s been absolutely wrong nonstop. Why does MR even pay attention to him anymore? Any of us members here could throw out some random rumor we dream up and be just as accurate as that, I dare say, industry hack.

I’m looking towards to the new products but I’ll believe them when I see them. Gurman is absolutely untrustworthy about most everything.

I don't need an Apple security camera. What I would like to see, however, is a dog and cat collar. People put Airtags on their pets (according to Apple they're not even supposed to) and don't provide any health benefits or satellite tracking. Imagine the possibilities when it comes to customization and matching Apple watch bands/collars. People spend so much on their pets and it opens up a whole new revenue stream.
I would like to see this too. I’d really like a much better range on the pet collar, even if I had to charge it a couple times a year.

I truly feel like it would sell like hotcakes and it's a product to feel excited about again. I've emailed Tim Cook about it several times with my ideas lol. Imagine using all these rescue dogs in the keynote video!

Remember when AppleTV rumors were "any moment now?"
I can't recall the last time they were mentioned. I feel they've been usurped by "security cameras." What the??

Edit: The only way I'm remotely interested in a security camera, is if it requires a new AppleTV.

That’s a fantastic idea! Link your pet’s health data with your vet - enable early detection

An intern shoukd be able to produce a worthy security camera. Don’t see what the big deal is.

I'd be interested in an Apple security camera, but only if I can use it with local storage, and it still works without internet. There's not much point if it relies on iCloud and stops recording when there's a fiber issue...
It will use Starlink 😉

This would be a whole new rev stream for Apple. Add services to that... Holy hell, Apple would be printing [even more] money [than they already do].

Why would you need an "experience" event for updated iPhone, iPad or Macs
Of the listed products only the home hub would justify it, so maybe there's more?
We shall find out soon enough
Gruber has been flailing and grasping at straws trying to remain relevant for years now while no one wants to pay for his column.

Here is a list of features it could have:

1. Imagine you bring your dog to the local dog park, and other dogs there are also wearing their Apple dog collars. Each collar would ping off the others and in the collar app, you could look at who they played with the most, exercise levels, profiles on the dogs and their owners.
2. Find-my tracking with satellite (extra charge after a year with subscription)
3. Lost dog alert, using FindMy to ping off other collars and iOS devices to notify nearby that a dog is lost.
4. Obviously, a digital ID tag to connect owners. Instantly send owners a text.
5. Dog daycare/overnight boarding check-in. Employees of these facilities can send messages, report cards, photos, all within the collar app.
6. Fitness and health tracking, specified to your dog breed, age, and activity level. Integration with vets. Keep all their immunization records on file in the app. Remind owners when it's "time for a walk!"
7. Can allow owners to check-in while at work or away from home, they can see if they are sleeping, moving around, making noise, etc.
8. Apple Collar and Apple Watch matching bands!

Hoping for the refresh Mac Studio. With the way computing is going, this might be my last device I ever get especially at a semi-reasonable price. These big companies expect owning hardware will be a thing of the past so I do not expect things to ever improve and only get worse.

I’d be surprised if they went that route, but they’d literally corner the pet collar market the moment they announced one. Seriously. Game. Over. 😂

So the question my kid is gonna wanna know is, will the low cost MacBook be able to play the Java version of Minecraft or just the bedrock version? And how well?

I’ve been eagerly waiting years for the home hub to come out.

I would love to see it in March, but given how tightly coupled it apparently is to the new Siri, the fact that new Siri got bumped from 26.4 has me thinking the home hub will unfortunately be delayed again.

Maybe WWDC. 😑
agree. it doesn't make sense to me if they release the Home Hub before the new Siri. same with the repeatedly rumored and yet still not here HomePod Mini. I strongly suspect the reason it's still not here is that they plan for the new Siri will be its biggest talking point. so no Home Hub or HomePod Mini until the new Siri is ready which given the recent developments is not coming on March 4. Maybe WWDC as you say. or they could just delay the whole thing until ios 27 when the full chatbot is supposed to be ready.

Probably not until they can actually ship a working version of Siri. Until then, they will keep losing to competition. The ecosystem sucks when there’s a massive point of failure and Siri and Apple Intelligence are both failures destroying the system and goodwill Apple built up with consumers.

Apple Silicon does great with Java Minecraft. I was able to get over 90fps in vanilla on an M1 MBA, and the new encheapened MacBook should hopefully have at least that much power. Just advise them not to go too crazy with mods because those will bog the game down regardless. Or let them learn the hard way - getting modded Minecraft to work is a great way to develop tech literacy!

@MacFan782040
I think you are on to something. I strongly suggest you edit out your posts on this subject and go about making formal contact with Apple, where you can clearly show your suggestions which would create a paper trail later on, should it get to the level of recognition and renumeration.

You don’t need to give away a great idea to people reading the forum. I did that once with an idea for an app etc. and someone on the forum saw my post and made an app based on my idea and I got no credit or anything else.

lol watch them leave the UWB chip out of the 17e again. I was this close to pulling the trigger on the 16e before I stumbled across that bit of BS.

I just hope the new cheaper MacBook isn't an excuse to raise the price of the MacBook Air. How much less expensive will the new one be compared to the $850 Air (current price at Amazon and Costco)?. Will the Air no longer have as much margin for retailer discounts?
