Non Fanboys: 45mm display
Apple Fanboys: Larger display
Apple: Our largest display ever in an AppleWatch

They can't keep growing and growing the case size without changing the form factor - and by that I mean a ROUND Apple Watch.
I have a 14 cm wrist, the 40 mm Series 5 barely looks ok on me, the 44 mm looks ridicolous - but I also have a 42,5 mm Garmin (round) which looks ok - if not better - compared to the 40 mm square Series 5.
The round form factor looks better on the wrist because the larger diametre of the case goes up and down the arm - and not side to side like the square form factor does (and I have no more side-to-side room on my wrist to host a larger watch without it sticking on the outside).
I hope they get it at some point.

..... why? we need a SMALLER version, not a ****ing bigger one.
make a 36mm and a 42, that's it.
We're not all some Jersey shore douche tiny dick who needs a large watch to be noticed.

40mm is a little bit too small on my wrist. 44mm way too big.

41mm sounds good to me. :)

So is the one you pointed out.
No. Right now, the S6 40 is still the newest small Apple Watch available.

Also, a relic is something that is veeeeery long in the tooth, not something that just had (or will soon have) a successor.

Semantics aside, the point is that the „smaller“ Apple Watch is the smallest real, full-spec smart watch on the market, by far.

It's not growing just like the old 42mm and current 44mm are the exact same size. The bezels are just shrinking. If they went completely bezel less, they could fit a 48+ mm screen.

Actually they are not the exact same size.
See attached screenshots from Apple for the 42 and 44 mm watches:

Oh, right. My bad. Got mixed up with the 42mm series 3.
Need more coffee at the end of the work day... o_O

I’m not sure why they keep making them bigger but at some point they will need to add a new third size if they do so…
