Following a lull in rumors and news circulating Apple's so-called "iPad Pro", most likely due to the launch of the Apple Watch and reported delays in Apple's internal production timeline, a newly shared industrial rendering (via nowhereelse.fr) [Google Translate] of the device once again provides some claims of dimensions for the large-screened iPad.

The industrial rendering, dated December 2014, points to a 12.9-inch screen iPad Pro with dimensions measuring exactly 305.70mm x 222.60mm x 7.20mm, or 12 inches x 8.7 inches x 0.28 inches. These numbers line up closely with those seen in a previously purported design drawings for the device, although they are slightly larger than the earlier ones.

The latest rumor also supports the majority of sources so far pointing to a 12.9-inch display for the iPad Pro. A few sources have suggested it could carry a smaller 12.2-inch display, but they are a small minority at this point.

Beyond dimensions, the industrial rendering does appear to support the four top- and bottom-based speakers mentioned in previous rumors, as well as the typical locations for the power button, headphone jack, Lightning port, and volume buttons. As with the iPad Air 2, this iPad Pro design appear to omit a mute switch in favor of a tiny microphone hole near the volume buttons.

Notably, the rendering does not include a port or other feature around the center of the left edge as has been seen in some previous case and mockup leaks. The exact identity of that feature is not clear, with suggestions it could be a SIM tray for cellular models, a second Lightning port for docking accessories in landscape orientation, or even a USB-C port.

Cases for the iPad Pro have begun increasing in quality recently, going from simple plastic molds to complex trifold designs with higher-quality materials, perhaps suggesting more confidence from manufacturers in these rumored designs and schematics.

Regarding its specs, the most recent rumors state the iPad Pro could have a triple-core A8X processor, 2 GB of RAM, and Touch ID, and possibly ship alongside a first-party stylus accessory of some sort. The latest rumblings suggest a production build-up in September with a launch perhaps coming in October alongside Apple's usual iPad lineup refresh.

Update 8:17 AM: Unbox Therapy has shared a new video highlighting cases designed around the rumored iPad Pro design.

They could also make the new MacBooks screen detachable like a surface (just better). The real challenges will be finding a cross between IOS and OS X, battery life and product name.

I really hope this is evidence of upgrades coming to iOS. I can't imagine much of a market for a giant iPad as limited as it is.

Is there another semi-handheld tablet on the market of this size? If not, at least people won't be able to complain that they're not trying anything new..

At what size does it finally become obvious that putting the camera in the far corner is really annoying? Who takes a picture of things by holding their camera way off to the side instead of aligned straight in front of their face?

I know "no one" should be using iPads for pictures. But I often FaceTime with mine and flip to the back camera to show my wife what the kids are doing. But heck, even these new larger iPhones, which you do use as cameras, are starting to be impacted by this awkward camera placement.

Shouldn't it be bigger? Why give the chance to others to produce a bigger tablet when nothing technically prevents Apple from doing so now?

i hope it docent cost more then a laptop unless it can finally replace one meaning it would need some major changes to IOS

Just make a Macbook Air with detachable keyboard/extended battery already apple, stop messing about with limited iOS devices

I can't imagine that this will reverse the declining iPad sales. Most people don't want to be carrying this around. It will be in the workplace or classrooms. I can't see sitting on the train with this thing.

They need a wow factor and its not just slapping a 12" screen on it. There needs to be a "special" mac stylus or run OS X and have USB ports for file transfers.

the bigger questions will be around software and UI, lots of potential. which also means lots of potential for disappointment

iPad Pro with 4K screen, A9X manufactured at TSMC 16nm FF+ and some juicy new bits you'll hear about soon.

Hardware may be great, but it's my strong opinion that Apple needs to back it up with equally good and capable software. iOS just as it is now simply won't do. Adding new rows of icons to the increased screen real estate should have to be a thing of the past. I don't want to see Mac OS running on this but I do want things like multi window multitasking, proper use of the lock screen, optional haptic feedback while typing, to name a few.

Stereo Speaker on either side of the screen.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy......

What I've wanted since iPad 1 day 1

(and a larger screen, which I've also waited 5? years for)

I'll buy it, drop a copy of Parallels on it, run Windows 8 and then BOOM... sell it for ones of dollars.

The cool thing about surface pro 3 is that it runs a complete desktop OS... If the iPad pro just runs IOS it may become just an oversized iPad with a pen... Maybe it will fill the needs of some people but no so many.

OMG that moron in the video again not gonna watch it next he will be telling you it bends when you sit on it.... Beating him to the punch no kidding its not a seat cushion
