G4 @ 733mhz with 2GB of RAM available on boot (PowerMac G4 QuickSilver / PowerBook G4 Titanium @ 533Mhz - both with FSB of 133Mhz). The test open Safari in Leoopard or Panther on either and open up Apple's home page. Heck open up Youtube main page. This is on 10/100 BaseT or Gigabit CAT5 connection that is uncontested with any other computing device in te same modem. Wait for the site to load then again tell me what application slows down ;)

That's video RAM. Apple has been historically "profit focused", and provided the bare minimum of VRAM as possible. The first signs of a Mac needing to be replaced, was how slow it took for pages to load.

Then why would the Ti-Book at 16/32MB VRam and the QuickSilver at 64MB VRam pose the same performance say on an HTML4 and HTML5 site? I'd wager HTML5 would affect the older non-supported Safari browser, yet wouldn't Apple's home page still render HTML4 content?

I'd imagine that both would have really bad performance. Are you saying that one is running much better than the other?

That is incorrect , Jobs compared the transition from desktop/laptop PCs to tablets with the transition from trucks to cars. And made it very clear "PCs are going to be like trucks. They’re still going to be around, they’re still going to have a lot of value, but they’re going to be used by one out of X people.”

He made it very clear that PC, like trucks today are very necessary, those who need them will continue to purchase them , no car can do the duties of a truck. On MR this quote is very much misinterpreted , trucks (PCs) are not going away, just most people do not require a computer to read email, surf the web, communicate , social media etc etc.

They might be like trucks, if one company continued to produce the gas-guzzling behemoths from 20 years ago while everyone else updated their fleet to hybrids that professional users can actually drive. He was right though - they are necessary. Just necessary for us to buy somewhere else.

It would mess up their schedule so I think TSMC will prioritise Apple.

No it's a professional machine that can replace a computer. It even has more I/O 'ports' than the 12" MacBook.

Having an advantage over a 12" MacBook is hardly a feat. A Smart Car has an advantage over a Segway, in that it has 2 more tires.

And Apple no longer produces professional machines of any sort. Their product portfolio is geared toward trust fund teenagers for whom words like "thinner", "lighter" and "rose gold" constitute meaningful selling points. Ask a real pro user and I guarantee none of those words will come up on their list of desires.

Again, the sarcasm in that post hasn't been seen.

It's not presumptios , it means before iPads people were forced to buy computers , even if they only needed them form very light tasks, tasks that the iPad does better and more convenient . This is exactly inline with jobs speech in relation cars and trucks .

Now this (the above) i agree with.

Some of us still need those trucks though. It's better to not have Apple tell us we don't, when we are sitting here with cash in hand, should they bother to make an actual workhorse vehicle.

Interesting and very insightful.

Contrast with Cook's remark about not understanding why anyone would want a computer.

I recently watched videos of various talks by jobs, in contrast Cook is clueless about the industry other than being good at maximising profits, he is apples Steve ballmer. Great for the shareholders , bad for us fans
