Not happening, at least not to the proportions hoped. Seriously, that's like 3 one more things right there, Stevie neeeeds an event for that. Most exciting thing since the unibody macbooks, needs an event.

Count on it - tomorrow or Wednesday

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.

- Microsoft releases Windows 7 Thursday.

How best to rain on M$'s parade than to release awesome new Apple hardware and start the ad campaign Phil Schiller mentioned last week?

Very common.

When was the last time they redesigned multiple products (counting 3 for this rumor) and released brand new hardware that no one else has on the market without an event?

I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I'm just curious if they've ever had a "silent" release that big.

we might see some new products tomorrow, but its hard for me personally to believe Apple would come out with so many redesigned Macs and accessories without a formal event. I may be pleasantly surprised, though. :D

All 3 of my mighty-mice have eventually had the little trackball get jammed or fail. And unlike old pre-optical mice, you can easily crack it open to clean it out.

So, I, for one, welcome a mighty mouse that uses a touch surface instead of a trackball. Or maybe the trackpad idea. In fact, an apple mini keyboard, that has a clickable-trackpad with multi-touch (so it's like using a macbook, only with a desktop machine) would be VERY welcome. In both bluetooth and USB.

But that, aside from the Apple Tablet, are the only things I'm looking/waiting for from Apple these days.

I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I've got my fingers crossed to see what might be in store for the MacBook.

I would love to get a MBP - but in my family, laptops do not seem to live long. Lots of accidental breakages. If AppleCare would cover accidental damage (or offer a plan for one) I would feel a lot more comfortable buying a higher end machine... For now it looks like it might be a MacBook or, *gasp* - maybe an HP...

If you're shelling out for a MBP you may as well get insurance on it. If you buy through a third party retail store they may offer some kind of insurance themselves. This is often the case in Australia.

It's no small investment and if you feel like you're prone to accidents it would go a long way if anything did happen!

So, the new trackpad replaces the mouse. (Apple kills the mouse! Woohoo!)

After all, a large touchpad would work, at least for me, better than using this mouse on a slide out desk shelf. Bring it, please :)

Kills it and releases alongside it the "magic mouse". Nice conundrum lol.

Last time they updated the desktops. The iMac, Mac mini and Mac Pro were refreshed all on the same day, with the new small keyboards (worst. decision. ever.) - not quite the same scale as a multi-touch trackpad but even that's not worth an event.

That's true and my thoughts also! However, I'll believe it when I see it!--)) ;);)

makes sense as they just released some stock moving info (6%) so this may be timed (why exactly i'm not sure)

Wacom Bamboo touch is already invented. poor Apple, it has to be cooler and useful to beat wacom... let's see

say hello to the multitouch mouse pad (not from Apple)

Bought the Bamboo Fun for a friend. Can't say how it works yet, but the build quality was less than I expected for a $200 device (retail).

An expected high level of integration with Apple media apps would give Apple's pad an edge over the Bamboo Fun, even considering Apple premium pricing. The Bamboo family looks to be Photoshop centric.

I'm guessing the multitouch pad will basically be a large version of the MBP trackpad? It should be wireless :)

Remember that old rumor about a "tablet" that was shaped like a long iPhone ?

That's what I see as the new keyboard. And the reason it isn't the same size as a normal keyboard is due to layers. The same layers one sees in Snow Leopard.

Tap a key and a new layer pops up that is the numbers pad.

Tap a key and that layer goes away. Just like in Expose'.

Now I can see a refresh of the iMac,Macbook and maybe the Mini but the new magic mouse and keyboard DO deserve an event.

Oh boy.....sounds great!
And way possible...so fingers crossed.
Looks like the old cc gonna get a workout :D

The biggest thing that I can see happening without an event is iMac or MacBook redesigns. No totally new products.
