Of course.... Apple have their own external optical drive but you can always buy a usb external disc drive.

apple's drive only works on the air (officially at least since it draws more power from the USB than standard)

Oh hurry up. It's almost 2 in the morning and I want to see these updates before I go to bed. Or I could always go to bed, get up in the morning, open Safari, it loads the Apple page and I see these update, that might be even more fun then waiting. Guess I'll see if it updates soon or not.

It would be cool if apple allowed that little usb dvd drive to work on all there range. It so nice. Wouldn't mind a few of them towered up on your desk.

If you were the apple webmaster you think that you would purposefully take a long time updating the store just to screw with addicts like us? I'm sure its neither here nor there for the average person who has no idea they are about to update it.

Even when this 'event' gets a resounding 'meh' from the jaded folks here it will be big news in consumer land, coupled to the record results yesterday its very much a thunder stealing week for Apple.

The negative coverage of Microsoft led by the NYT article at the weekend hasn't helped MS either.

Of course W7 is big news, when 80% of the world use Windows then it can't help but be big news but what is it really? A cleaner, more stable, updated XP with a glossier interface? Great but where's the innovation?

Off topic I guess, but it gave me a break from refreshing!

The iMacs...

there is no listing for a 24" in the leaked list... apple couldn't have dropped it could they?

New on the frontpage:

Update: MacRumors has received unconfirmed word that the "MC207LL/A" product is a MacBook running at 2.26 GHz with a 250 GB hard drive and 2 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM.

That would suck. I just put my order in for a MBPro with 2.26 GHz , 160GB Hard drive, and 4 gb of ram. I could return that, and reorder if prices are different.

This is my first mac and I'm really excited!!!

The longer this goes on the more disappointed I'm going to be when it comes back up. What if Apple decided to keep it down until the 22nd then open up with a bunch of new toys?
