I'm buying an iPhone on Saturday and I will put a screen protector on it, but I dont really want to put anything else on it. I'm not too worried about dropping it or anything, but how is the back of the iphone for scratching? iPods scratch like crazy on their metal backs, but the iPhone is brushed aluminum isnt it? Just wondering how it stands up to daily routines.

I'm beginning to think that using cases scratches the chrome more than going naked. I had the Agent18 but it totally scratches up the narrow chrome trim on top (not the other part) so it did more damage than good in terms of scratches. it was also slippery to hold and made it feel much heftier. Not recommended.

I now use the Seidio rubberized case and although it's not as sturdy and protective as the Agent18, it is extremely minimal and doesn't add almost any size to the iphone. It also looks really sleek and feels good in the hand. Just thought I'd mention it for those who want something that doesn't make the phone much bigger.

I've been running my iPhone with just the screen protector also since I got it.

I was actually planning on getting a case for it a week or two after I bought it, but after using it without a case for so long I really like it "naked."

Although, I am very concerned about dropping it. As many have mentioned, the sides are really slippery, and there have been several times it's almost flown out of my hand on nasty concrete surfaces where I'm sure the phone would've gotten ridiculously scratched up.

If there was a case that I would want to get, it's probably one of those Vaja cases. I'm so torn!

The vaja cases make the iPhone thicker than they let on, trust me. When I hold a naked one these days, I'm amazed at how small and thin they are.

Even though I'm generally very careful (I dropped my last phone once in 1 year) I dont wanna take a chance and drop my iPhone. With my luck, the screen will break and that'll be the end of it. So I got the vaja ivolution, it's very nice looking, protects the iPhone very well in most places including the screen so no need for a protector.

Been using my Vaja iVolution Top SP for a month now, not left a single mark on the chrome bezel. Very happy with it.

For your vaja cases, did you guys get the belt-clip option or no?

I think I may order one today.

My Vaja has left a couple of marks, but not very noticeable at all. Infact I only spotted them once.

I did not get the belt clip because I dont want any of that "ultimate clip" crap, I want the real rivet clip. I bought the rivet set off ebay, but I have yet to find a way to attach it without destroying or cutting holes in the case lol.

I only have the anti glare screen protector on it and I'm not a big fan of it...gets smudges and is a bit hazy...going back to my BSE front

I agree w/ this... The chrome bezel has become scratched in less than a month after trying out 3 different hard cases. I am now running w/ a naked iPhone (just have a Power Support anti-glare screen protector).

I've never had a case on my iPhone and the only scratches are on the back, which I don't really care about. My screen is still flawless and I'll take the slight cosmetic damages to the unimportant part of the phone than to add the bulk of a case.

well now the BSE is worse as far as fingerprints and smudges go - time to but the crystal power support

On new years eve I hit a deer (more like it headbutted my car/commited suicide) and i SLAMMED on my breaks violenlty as my flawless virgin pure (4 hr old) iPhone went flying down on the floor by the pedals. I picked it up after to my suprise was still in perfect unscratched condition. I now keep it safe in its Incase as well as with the anti glare screen protector. naked no more!

I also don't bother with a case for mine. I don't see the point given that the metal part is pretty durable. As for the glass, that's probably the only part that could break with any ease, but no case is going to protect that since you need to have it exposed to use the phone.

Honestly, cases ruin the look of it anyway. :)

Mine is naked. It did fall about a foot onto a marble floor and took a small dent near the headphone jack. I also managed to make a small scratch on the glass somehow. It sort of bothers me, but on the other hand I wouldn't enjoy the phone as much if it were in a case... it sort of loses its iPhone-ness, and also gets a lot chunkier. I don't blame anyone for using a case, though.

I considered a Vaja case, but the iVolution I used on my 3G iPod back in the day made it feel huge. I also found myself worrying a lot about the case since I paid so much for it... but I was more obsessed with keeping the iPod pristine.... not that it mattered since any case I put it in scratched it anyway.
