Unbelievable the lack of passion & vision behind Safari, the team behind it puts out this unacceptable half baked garbage really, it's truly appalling & disgraceful the lack of leadership, QA and how much the browser has retrogressed, beyond IE levels. So much for Apple's silicon and all the "privacy" smoke but it gets outperformed by almost any mainstream browser in Apple's own OS while also offering less granular privacy tools.

Unreal.

The irony is that the people who updated because Apple told them they would be safe, ended up less safe and the people who didn't, ended up being more safe.
Yeah, software versions always have a sweet spot. You don't want to be on the latest public release but also don't want to be on something super outdated.

Hate to admit, but there’s some truth here. Once a champion of performance and web standards, Safari is now the bastard step child of the Internet that makes many web developers cringe to support. Kind of an IE8 Revisited story.

Swell. add that to the huge bug list in Monterey.

Meanwhile Microsoft fixes bugs, adds new features on a week by week basis.

Unlike macOS, Windows collects tons of metrics and other data without clear warning when setting up the os for the first time. You have to go to Privacy and uncheck several options one by one. Meanwhile Linux is great for privacy and growing in popularity.

Does using a VPN offset this bug?
Possibly unless while using the VPN you're logging in into your online accounts then the VPN would only serve to mask your browsing behavior from your ISP but not from online trackers. I'd suggest using Firefox (with Multi-Account Containers add-on turned on) or Brave and avoid big tech browsers like Chrome and Edge.

I haven’t used Safari in over 6 years on the iPhone. It’s literally the worst browser there is. Brave, Opera, and Edge are all superior IMO.

Yikes. I hope Apple fixes this quickly.

Running Safari 15.2 (up from 15.1 used in the demo video) on macOS, I'm not observing this working in Private or non-Private windows.

Did Apple already fix this, or is the demo site not working as expected? It's not showing any cross-site information for me.

UPDATE, I see it working in non-Private windows, but it's not working in Private windows (for me, at least).

@MacRumors, did you actually confirm that you observed this bug? I'm not able to reproduce it here.

Does clearing browser history and website data help?

I originally could not reproduce this in Safari 15.2, but now I do see it working in non-Private windows. I use Private windows for 99% of my browsing, and I can't get this bug to work in Private windows.

The advantage of Private windows is that you always start with a clean slate. No cookies, no sessions.

This is a bad time to have posted this comment, given that Microsoft had to pull a couple releases this past week because they basically broke Active Directory domain controllers (among other things). There's been quite a lively discussion on our university tech support mailing list.
