They made the tabs look awful and removed the option to change how tabs look. Do they hate the people that use their products?

Actually contemplating switching over to Firefox until they fit it, but I worry about battery life

Made me "uncomfortable", too. Here's an old example of two windows where, in each case, the first tab is active.

Tahoe is at least slightly better about this due to tabs looking vaguely three-dimensional...
Neither of those is what Compact tabs looked like. The tabs AND the address bar were on the same line. the address bar existed within the active tab.

what's hilarious is i decided to give safari another chance with tahoe because i miss using safari as my main browser on mobile, but the one thing i absolutely can't stand about it is the pill tabs that are constantly changing size. come to find out that they literally deleted the option to have tabs that behave like every other browser on the market... insane.

I just upgraded to MacOS 26.1 yesterday. With the command bar at the top, the address bar below, and the tabs below that, too much space is lost. On my 14" Windows laptop for work, the command bar is missing, making the experience much better even though the browsers themselves do take as much space as Safari does now. Please, Apple, please give us a more compact mode so we don't feel like we have to continuously scroll to see the content.

Given the few comments on this thread, I don't hold high hopes that enough people submit feedback to
Apple :(.
