@clevin

I remember doing the about:config thing manually a couple of years ago but I never noticed any difference then.

I remember that too, thats why I didn't use fasterfox until recently, there might be an improvement of servers side in recent years. or maybe we all have better connections now, since these changes have much better results with faster internet connections.

Hard to guess, but im glad I gave this thing another shot weeks ago.

Pipelining will only work on some servers, as clevin correctly states. I think the connection thing might be the key, since pipelining benefits most those with better connections. Having pipelining on a crap connection is less beneficial, in other words. :)

yes, exactly, if there is a catch, server support of pipeline is the one. each user should try for himself/herself and see if fasterfox is beneficial for his/her browsing habit.

OK. All the pieces are gradually fitting together, I hope I get to see the finished puzzle before I shuffle off. After bleeding me dry with crap connections for years Pigbond has just upgraded us to 1.5mbits.

btw, you're up late MJ.

Yep, as is the case for almost all software; app or plugin. :)

Heh, I collapsed soon after replying in this thread. If you get the chance, ditch BigPond and jump on the Internode bandwagon. Hell, go with someone who at least offers 24Mbps connections! :D

Wow, this thread really exploded.

So I should note that I am using the Safari 3 beta as well though I had this problem well before WWDC. I noticed it with Safari 2 and thus moved to Firefox.

It's odd though... for the 1000 thumbnail site I loaded it up in one shot with no problems. It's just NeoGAF that I have issues with :confused:.

If only Firefox loaded faster, I wouldn't mind but sometimes it really takes 15-20 bounces before it finally loads up.

@yayaba

I had a lot of issues with FF like not being able to drag the favicon to mail.app to send the url, and constant quitting and so on. Recently I did a system reinstall including a fresh FF, and FF is back to normal...

So if you really like using FF for certain features as I do then I can suggest a time consuming process that is worth trying...

Wait till your next system update, like Leopard for example but before loading Leopard, completely remove all traces of FF from your system, every bit. Then start afresh. Do screen grabs of your passwords and stuff and put all your bookmarks back in manually don't import them.

Sure this is a big pain in the bum, but if you don't have any luck and you like FF, it's worth it. I'm pretty happy with it now.

Someone must have figured out a solution for this. After the 10.5.1 update I seem to have been afflicted by this problem. I get question marks out the wazoo and some pages refuse to load properly. I had to crack open camino just to respond to this thread and everyone's avatars are showing up as question marks. So what the heck gives? What's even stranger is that I happened to open up my guest account today and see how Safari was performing in there. It worked perfectly.

I'm ready to throw in the towel and switch back to firefox or camino full time.
