It has to be typed in the URL bar, not a Google search. And I've confirmed that it happens to me. I am on the beta though and am running the 1Password extension. Reported.
i always type in the URL bar (i can't remember the last time i went to google.com). am on the beta as well, and it doesn't happen on either of my M2 macs...

Just tried reproducing it in my iOS 16.4.1 Safari, no problems. 🖐️

FWIW, I use DuckDuckGo as my default search engine.

It doesn’t have anything to do with 1password. I don’t use 1password and it happens every time as long as Include Safari Suggestions is enabled.

I was able to duplicate the OPs issue by attemting to search for "What brand of tires does formula 1 use?" I relaunched Safari, turned off the "Include Safari suggestions" feature and tried again. On the second time it worked fine. So the bug seems to be specific to Safari suggestions.

If the issue is connected to Siri suggestions, the Spotlight index might have some defect. It might help to force a re-index.

Just a shot in the dark. But might be worth a try.

I just noted that because someone else had referred to it.

I get the crash - no 1Password, no beta software. Turned off "Include Safari Suggestions" and it does not happen.
