Safari Icon Not Changing Anytime Soon?

The ugly Safari icon in iOS 7 (only icon that still looks off for me) may not be changing anytime soon. A patent was filed on April 30 for the Safari, Music, iTunes, and Voice Memos icons.

Icons change, trademarks can change.

Because it's trademarked doesn't mean it has to stay that way now. See the calculator icon. Poor thing keeps changing every few years.

They are fake. The font is wrong. The iBooks label is off.

It doesn't mean much. They've been trademarking some of the iOS 6 icons right before iOS 7 came out.

I actually like the safari icon. And all the mockups I've seen make it worse.

Only problem I have with it is the white space around the compass. It looks bad when it is in the dock.

I don't understand why people whine about the icons. What matters is whether they're gonna improve the browser itself or not, not its icon.

I care more about how an app works than the icon that I look at for a split second.

To the original poster. If you despise the safari icon so much why don't you change it with a short cut? That's what I did with that ugly Instagram Icon.

to me, the browser is perfect as it is so now they should focus on the icon haha

Everybody acts like I really care that much about the icon haha. I posted this for the people who constantly complain about it.

Yes, I think it is ugly and can be improved, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
